Ok, I know this is a bit esoteric, but which strategy is best for a field goal kicker to take when the center muffs a hike and the holder fumbles around with it?

Seems like the kicker has three options;

1) Pretend the holder caught the ball, go through the motion of kicking before the holder scrambles around for it. Thus fooling the defense.

2) Wait for the holder to get out of the way while the holder scrambles, thus losing the fake out factor.

3) Imediately run to the outside end and hope the holder gets the ball and throws a pass to the kicker so he can score 7 points instead of 3 points.

This is bugging me a bit. Which is the best strategy?

The best strategy is to have the kicker continue as if he was going to make the kick, and have the holder bootleg it to the weak side. He can then decide to run, or pass.

So option 1 is the best. Pretend the kick is standard, and then let the holder/thrower/runner decide what to do.
