1999-2019, the US suicide rate increased from 10.5/100k to 14.5/100k. +38.10%
1999-2019, the US suicide rate involving firearms increased from 5.9/100k to 7.3/100k +23.7%
1999-2019, the number of guns in the US increased from ~259M to 423M. +63.3%
That is:
The US suicide rate involving firearms grew art a rate of about 2/3 the total suicide rate, despite a >63% increase in the total number of guns

Anyone who tells you more guns = more deaths is lying to you.

There was a time when the angry left was infatuated with suicides to the point that a crazy doctor created a complicated machine that allowed the person to pull a trigger on a machine to kill themselves. Lefties loved the concept and they loved Dr. Jack at the time. Fast forward to Covid and indications are that the (former) NY governor took up the case where Dr. Jack left off and issued an E.O. that caused the deaths of over 10,000 nursing home residents who suffered from old age ailments. The problem was that most of the nursing home people didn't want to die at the time. The point is that the alleged concern about suicide deaths by gun is just another left wing political tactic. If lefties were really concerned about the number of suicide and reluctant suicide deaths they would call for the indictment of the (former) NY governor for negligent homicide or manslaughter of over 10,000 Nursing home residents before they called for confiscation of firearms from law abiding citizens.
