Federal agents fence off water for cattle - to protect a mouse?

But by God, we're not going to let those cattle drink from a stream where a mouse lives!

We are the GOVERNMENT!!!

(Cattle and mice have gotten along in these areas for thousands of years.)

The Obama administration’s crackdown on Western land use has sparked a furor over the Forest Service’s decision to fence off a creek used by thirsty cattle in drought-stricken Otero County, New Mexico.

The Otero County Commission is scheduled to meet Monday to discuss whether to order the sheriff to open the gates against the wishes of Forest Service officials, who have argued that the fence is needed to protect the Agua Chiquita riparian area and habitat for the New Mexico meadow jumping mouse.

It's nothing but an excuse to drive cattle ranchers out as well as farmers, like they have done in much of Nevada. What their ultimate goal to do with this land/water is the question, but be sure pockets will be lined some where.
In California, it is smelt fish, Nevada a tortoise that has co-existed with cattle for over 100 years (and even while proclaiming the land/water is no longer available they are themselves euthanizing that same tortoise), and now this.

Much of its commonalities has to do with water rights, and possibly trying to gain control over as much as they can. Matters not the lost livelihoods of families, jobs, or higher prices due to scarcity of produce, beef, etc.

Just to set you straight - there were NO cattle, or horses, until the Spanish brought them to the Americas in the 1500s.

But beside that, your post on the NAZI tactics of the Obama administration are right on track.
