Any fool knows that spending cuts to any entitlement programs is going to hurt the receiver. Cut my social security, my food stamps, my subsidizes housing is going to hurt me. I will have to do without some necessities.
Maybe salaries cut, retirement cuts, medical cuts to Congressmen should be on the top of the list.

I voted for Obama. And I'm not sorry that I did.

Please don't make assumptions about people (especially vulgar ones) who you know absolutely nothing about. (the hypocricy of someone dropping the F bomb on me and then quoting scripture at me is not lost).

Bureaucrats (and this includes generals) will not cut their own lavish expense accounts, they will not negotiate better deals with contractors or vendors, and they will not slow down the end-of-budget-cycle spending sprees.

They will furlough soldiers (and cry about how vulnerable that makes us), they will try to make sure that those receiving assistance will get a lot less, they will cut law enforcement subsidies, and they will gut education funding (including student loans) because they WANT us to feel the pain. That's how they will justify their bloated budgets.

Maybe there isn't enough waste in government (depending upon where you stand on the role of the federal government) to completely eliminate our debt. But there is more than enough to weather this event without any adverse impacts. But ONLY if these bureaucrats become much better stewards of our money than they have been.

But reality check - the GOP got the automatic cuts in return for their votes to raise the debt ceiling. They negotiated for this and got it - why don't they want to take the credit?

Because the game right now is to make these meager spending reforms hurt people as much as possible and then blame the other side of the aisle. They are still just playing political games with our money and our lives and some folks STILL aid and abeit them by joining in their silly reindeer games and refusing to address the real issue.
