FCC shuts down Alex Jones’s flagship radio station
http://thehill.com/policy/technology/technology/402063-fcc-shuts-down-alex-jones-flagship-radio-station

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has shut down conspiracy theorist Alex Jones's flagship radio station.

The Austin American-Statesman reported Wednesday that the pirate radio station, Liberty Radio, was hit with a $15,000 fine and at least temporarily pulled from the airwaves.

The newspaper reported that a lawsuit filed in federal court in Austin alleged that Liberty Radio had functioned without a license since at least 2013, and had been transmitting from a tower at an Austin apartment complex.

Liberty Radio stopped airing on the radio in December, but still streams online. The FCC is charging that the station was also illegally broadcasting on an FM wavelength.

A reminder that Trump’s FCC did this, led by that bought and paid for Chairman.

John Brinkley's "flagship station" was an illegal?? :laughing0301:

Oh the irony.

Even the real (historic) John Brinkley got real licensed stations in Mexico....

NOUO, that's a five figure hit plus a lifetime ban on ever getting licensed legally

Because nothing says "Land of the Free" like having to pay the government for permission to exercise your First Amendment rights.
Are you a Jones listener?

Do I have to be to stand up for his rights as I would any other American?

Maybe that’s the difference between me and you

Yelling fire in a crowded theater is not protected speech. Sedition is a crime, and Jones is lucky he's not in jail.

Jones has not committed sedition and the fact that you have accused him of such makes you sound just as insane as he does. Take your tin foil hat off

No, you don't have to be a Jones listener to stand up for his rights. A search on USMB hasn't revealed you standing up for NFL kneelers' rights. Have you stood up for their rights? I think they'd fit the category of any other American.

edit...Ah, found one expression/implication of support. Most seem to imply either they have no rights as they are employees of private entities or that they shouldn't bring politics into stadia.

If you loved America you would respect our constitutional freedom of expression

Anyway, are you a Jones listener?

No he is not lucky, he is an American and Patriot. Don't like what he is saying, turn the dial

Do you support this?

18 U.S. Code § 2384 - Seditious conspiracy

If you do then Jones is a person who is not a patriot.

The Constitution of the United States provides patriots, who feel wronged by laws passed by Congress and signed by the President, the ability to peacefully remove those persons, and replace them every even year. What is required is Freedom of Speech and the energy to and ability to vote.

The First Amendment does not protect seditious speech, and this is what Jones exemplifies.

Do you believe he is a patriot?

His words are couched and may not rise to sedition beyond a reasonable doubt. But no one can call him a pariot, for he is not insane, many of those who believe him are, and they can take his inference, "So, people need to have their battle rifles and everything ready at their bedsides and you got to be ready because the media is so disciplined in their deception"++ and attack Journalists and others.

In context:

On Periscope, Alex Jones tells supporters to get their “battle rifles” ready against the media and others

Excellent - He's in temporary banned camp with Twitter too. Inciting violence again - What a fucking idiot

Twitter is citing Jones for a tweet linking to a live video of Jones talking about "web censorship." The video has been taken down, but in a clip posted by the liberal media watchdog group Media Matters, Jones says, "Mainstream media is the enemy ... but now it's time to act on the enemy before they do a false flag."

He mentions taking action in courts, among other things, and says, "People need to have their battle rifles ready."

posted by Infowars, Twitter explains that its users "may not engage in the targeted harassment of someone, or incite other people to do so."

There's no such thing.

You get a license awarded to use a very very finite space of the ether. And you don't PAY for it at all.

Before the Federal Radio Commission (forerunner of the FCC) was formed by Herbert Hoover the airwaves were chaos. Anybody who could afford a bigger transmitter could and would just drown you out. Imagine a busy intersection of two highways, with no traffic lights.

His "rights"?

The station in this story is a pirate. That means illegal. Nobody has the "right" to disregard the Law.

When FCC shuts down a pirate it doesn't matter what the content is or isn't. What matters is the license they don't have. Period.

So it's free, he just didn't renew his license? Is that why they called is a "pirate" station?
You'd think Jones would have renewed his license, especially if it's free.

Can everyone simmer down here? The problem has nothing to do with his content. I don't think, anyway.
