To me, it isn't that complicated. You have individual rights on the Right hand and collective (state) rights on the Left hand. Communism, Socialism, fascism, and Nazism are all about total gov't control or as much as they can get vs individual rights. Everything else is crap that muddies the distinction.

This is something that almost all people get wrong.

Authoritarianism and total government controls is on the extreme Left.
Anarchy and no government control at all is on the extreme Right.

This places conservatism, a few hairs to the right of center, and it places Democrats, Nazis, Communists and Marxists way way way to the Left.

Fascism is not "socialism and Marxism"
