Hello, it is happening right now.

.Friday 15 Sep 2017 8:30 am, London time..

An explosion on a Tube train at Parsons Green caused panic in South West London this morning.

Bomb squads, police and fire crews were called to the scene after the explosion which involved a white bucket inside a Lidl carrier bag.

A metro.co.uk reporter at the scene described seeing people with facial burns, adding that they were ‘really badly burned’ and ‘their hair was coming off’.

They said that the rear of the train filled with smoke and people left the train, some panicking, at Parsons Green.

One woman described how she had hurt her legs and had seen a large flame fill the carriage and another woman had ash in her hair

People quickly started saying that a bomb had gone off, sparking panic.

Initially people were told they could not leave the station before an evacuation took place.

Another witness said that the train had put in a mayday call and the Wimbledon branch was suspended.

A TfL spokeswoman told Metro.co.uk: ‘The District Line has been suspended between Earls Court and Wimbledon due to a security alert.

More details will be released when we get them.’

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘We are aware of an incident at Parsons Green and are in attendance.

‘More information as we get it.’

A large fire in Harrow is causing commuter chaos this morning after it broke out at the side of the track.

Dozens of people had to be woken up and taken from their homes in the middle of the night and a train had to be evacuated following the blaze.

A timber fire has damaged a retaining wall meaning that there are no services on the track between Watford Junction and London Euston.

It is affecting London Midland and Virgin Trains services to the south of Milton Keynes. Network Rail tweeted saying it would be a ‘big job to fix’.

A spokesman for the company said: ‘Owing to a fire in a commercial property next to the railway line near Harrow, train services between Watford Junction and London Euston are not running.

‘Passengers wanting to travel on the West Coast Main Line and West London Line are urged to check with their train operator or national rail .co.uk before travelling as disruption and cancellations are to be expected throughout the day.

‘The safety of passengers and staff is our priority. We are working with our partners at London Midland, Southern, Virgin Trains West Coast, Caledonian Sleeper and the emergency services to update passengers as when more information becomes available.’

More than 50 firefighters were sent to tackle the fire at a factory and offices in Chantry Place, Harrow.

Dozens of concerned residents called 999 after spotting the flames and huge plumes of smoke, while social media users reported hearing explosions.

London Fire Brigade said 12 people had been evacuated from nearby homes ‘as a precaution’.

Station Manager Jason Jones said: ‘We have got a very well developed fire which is extremely visible from quite a way out.

‘There are propane cylinders involved so a hazard zone has been set up as cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

‘The site is next to Headstone Lane train station and trains have been stopped. Crews are working hard to bring the fire under control.’

A total of eight fire engines and 58 firefighters were sent to the scene after more than 30 emergency calls were received on Thursday, just before midnight.

A cordon was put in place on Headstone Lane.

People on a London Midland service from Euston to Milton Keynes had to be evacuated from the train at Headstone Lane, and were provided with taxis to get them to their destination.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
