Try it. No spin, no interpretation, no denial of reality because its' cruel and unpleasant. Just complete total honesty.

Example: all welfare, social security, food stamps, etc. everything should be ended as helping the poor, injured, or sick survive is ultimately self-defeating. Why help the weak survive when Nature doesn't work that way? Nature eliminates the weak so the strong survive and prosper. And we're a part of nature. For some to survive on the Titanic, some had to be sacrficed. Only so many lifeboats, but not enough for everyone to survive. Had they tried to save everyone, no one would have survived. As with government aide to people the competant and stronger are better off without acting like millstones around their necks weighing them down.

That's honest. Heartless and cruel, but very honest.

If we aren't honest abut problems, nothing we do to fix things will work because we're not fixing the actual problems.

We don't have enough lifeboats to save everybody. Some have to die. Pick which ones. This is reality. If you have a way to save everybody let's hear it. If not, either work on fixing the existing problem or be silent.

Problem with being 100% honest ... Is that you are usually dealing with people that are 100% not.

Problem being 100% honest is someone ends up wanting to kill you. Absolute truth sucks. As depicted so well in "The Invention of Lying." 'Assited living' or 'Retirement Homes' were called something like 'A sad lonely place where you wait to die' :) That's the truth. And why we prefer lies.

Meh...I am 100% honest all od the time....especially in real life. Its great, no one comes to me with their nonsense problems

I am too. And as the OP states. Being 100% honest all the time is hard.

Most people think I am a dick at first....then they learn i am the only one they can trust. Its not really hard when you don't really care...eapecially when it comes to those outside of your inner circle

Would say 'impossible.'

So if being 100% honest 100% of the time is impossible, or even just really really difficult, then isn't a politician supposed to be lying to us? And when we chastise them for lying is it that they lied, or is it that they did what they're supposed to do, just not very well?

How much lying do we want? Is it even possible to switch off the lying on the fly? Or are we too used to lying to ever be honest?

Was an amusing illustration of htis in an episode of Babylon 5 where on the key characters' 3 wives shows up. He informs them he's divorcing 2 of them and keeping the 3rd for ceremonial functions and whatnot. He divorces the kiss-ass and hot porn star sorta one and keeps the total overt bitch explaining to her, "With you, I'll always know where I stand." :)

Business is business. And that's basically what government is. You have a responsibility to be honest to the people that pay your salary expecting you to do your job.

Personal dealings are different... Because you are dealing with emotions.

Absolute honesty? Okay. Our world population should probably be reduced by about 80% to ensure sustainability. Also, we should let the sick and disabled die to promote better genetic profiles. This includes diabetics, Downs Syndrome people, those with predispositions towards cancer, etc.

Is this honesty? Or is it cruelty?

Thats your version of truth....not honesty

It's wrong but honest. Global pop of over 7 billion should be reduced to less than 3 billion. Only have the extra because of our utilization of oil. But using oil is at the expense of the enviroment. Since we began using oil, populaytion has skyrocketed. But what happens when it runs out and the whole world's infrastructure is oil-based (gas stations, refineries, etc.?)

Birth defected babies should be killed. Instead of making parents of such children full-time babysitters, sometimes the rest of their lives as their children never attain independance, those children should be killed so the parents can try again. Nature's other animals do not care for oddities and disabled versions, they either exile them from the pack or herd, or outright attack and kill them. If God exists, the killed will go to heaven, if God doesn't exist we're no different than the rest of nature and foolish to pretend to be.

...Bear in mind I don't actually support such a thing. Am simply illustrating the futility of honesty and why we like the lying. :)

Is it possible to be completely honest AND well-liked? Or are they mutually exclusive? And anyone others like and speak well of is by definition lying in order to please them?

Jesus was fairly honest and they nailed him to a cross.
JFK was and they shot him.

Can you be honest and a public figure, and then do well? Or will someone kill you?
