Barack Obama speaking bofore a rally of supporters in Missouri had this to say, "There are things you can do individually, though, to save energy," Obama said. "Making sure your tires are properly inflated – simple thing. But we could save all the oil that they're talking about getting off drilling – if everybody was just inflating their tires? And getting regular tune-ups? You'd actually save just as much!"

I know inflating your tires and keeping your vehicle tuned up is important and if you don't that could potentially cause fuel inefficiencies, but have the ability to generate billions of barrels of oil? I don't think so.

Barack Hussein Obama also said something about getting your car tuned up. Who gets their car tuned up anymore? You bring your car to the dealership and they plug it into a computer and that computer tells you whats wrong.

Right. He's acting like people just ignore maintenance on their vehicle. Ahhh, you have to inflate your tires and tune your vehicle just to keep it running. That's common sense.

Obama's Ideas about ways to save gas are all fine. Where he loses me is when he says we could save more Gas/Oil simply by inflating our tires and getting tune ups than we could ever drill for.

That is rediculas. We can not conserve our way out of this crisis any more than we can Drill our way out. Neither can we, any time soon, expect alternatives to get us out of it either! We must do it all!!

Obama and other socialists will probably come up with all kinds of silly crap rather than admit we need to drill for our own oil. I can't wait to hear what he says next.

I just saw the report on ABC News about how after Carter called for energy conservation in the late 1970's, demand for oil actually went down.

There are two sides to this coin, and we waste a lot of energy.

I'm all for alternative forms of energy, conserving energy, and such but doing normal everyday maintenance on your vehicle isn't going to compensate for the energy crisis we're facing.

I've been preaching for higher gas mileage vehicles for years and the auto makers totally dropped the ball on this one. They could have had high MPG vehicles long before now.

But it's not the only culprit in this mess. There's plenty of blame to go around.

    The auto makers?

Every president and Congress since 1980 is to blame.

If I could afford to change my oil furnace, my refigerator and many of my appliances, I don't doubt I could improve my overall energy efficiency.

If I could afford (and was allowed by law, but that's another story) to put a wind turbine on my land I could increase my electical efficiency further still.

Much of the efficiency America is losing has to do with people like me not being able to take advantage of the efficiencies that are already available to us with today's technology.

I don't know if this has doodle squat to do with what O was talking about, but changing the technology many of us are stuck with, because of financal considerations, no doubt would go far in helping us individually and this nation overall, to reduce our carbon footprints.
