Without going to the Internet (which I had to do by the way to find out about this EMTALA...) how many of you know what that stands for?

1986 EMTALA
The Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) is a federal law that requires anyone coming to an emergency department to be stabilized and treated, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay, but since its enactment in 1986 has remained an unfunded mandate.

So what happens, hospitals OVERCHARGE insurance companies and those that can pay i.e. why we have $10 aspirin!
Just as this hospital CEO when asked: "How do hospitals deal with the cost of the uninsured? Like any business, we pass it on to the paying customers.”

Then you couple the above wasteful spending that Medicare knows is being done because they have
FORCED hospitals to do this with the $850 billion a year insurance companies, individuals pay out
because 90% of physicians interviewed fear lawsuits is it any wonder we have such wasteful health care system!
