I was about to post that myself -- LadyG obviously never saw GF II.


Anyone who's been to Ellis Island (the museum) knows that thousands of of Children were processed through w/o parents. Some held in quarantine until they were healthy or relatives could be found.

Back then, we didn't really have a legal mechanism to deport people -- why would we?


The amount of wealth in this country, real wealth, so massive and abundant, that it's a sin we can't care for these children in a more compassionate manner.

We should not be calling ourselves a "Christian" nation. Not today.

I keep thinking of that great speech from The Newsroom -- we're no longer the greatest democracy in the world, but we could be again.
