This should not shock anyone who is open minded, and realizes the political system in America is not about republican and Democrats,except domestically as for foreign affairs,spreading Democracy ,free open elections,looking out for the rest of the world it doesn’t matter who or what political affiliation once elected the President of the United States
The President also is the commander in chief of the military.As commander in chief the current President like his predecessors the one major order an on going order which is to continue the “off the books policy” keep US military training and the cultivation of allied militaries whose interests and ideologies would reflect those of Washington, historically, the main methods of U.S. control in Latin America. after WW11 when US government quietly with taxpayers money opened the notorious School of the Americas (SOA) which trained Brazil,Argentina two of most brutal dictatorships among the many fifty thousand since the opening, including nearly every officer involved in the 1973 Chilean coup and many of the Colombian Army who applied their training with impunity from Colombian authorities,they instituted massive extrajudicial murders, torture ,DEATH SQUADS,paramilitaries. massacres using the fifty plus year insurgency took placeor blaming as the reason atrocities happened in their efforts fighting counter-insurgency, counter terrorism and unconventional warfare (among other forms of attack).US though SOA intentionally cultivates a glorified image of “privileged capitalist modernity and a strong belief in the right-wing capitalist democracy
The U.S anti-drug strategy has been a resounding failure. U.S. State Department, however, sees Plan Colombia not as a failure at all but instead allowed for the creation of an effective new back door for U.S. intervention like the war on drugs and the war on communism before it, the façade that justifies U.S. economic imperialism was suddenly right in front of those who make these decision using 911 to their advantage by placing Colombia’s FARC as an organization of TERRORIST adding them officially to the list and bullying Europe also placed the FARC on Europe list. The Revolutionary armed forces of Colombia known by the acronym FARC are Colombian peasants at war with the Colombian government for over fifty years, but as terrorists’ therefore, like the ‘narco guerrillas a title US govt used previously now play a crucial role in maintaining this facade and flow of unlimited US tax dollars. While the U.S. Colombia policy is certainly aimed at making sure the FARC never gain the strength or political unity necessary to overthrow the state, or ever become part of Colombia political election process the FARC are also a necessary enemy, just as the continuation of the internal conflict is necessary, to justify continued U.S.funds military training, US has seven military bases in Colombia to aid and prevent any possible intrusion in the affairs of the strategically located, oil and resource rich Andean state.
US government policy conveniently overlooks Colombia,who is number one in Human Rights abuses in the Western Hemisphere, number one in murdering trade unionist, has five million displaced people due chaos mayhem,consistent murder of any attempt at political opposition party of their leaders, rampant corruption,outright theft of indigenous,rural poor and Afro Colombians land using,murder,massacres, threats whenever attempts have been made to return to their own land.
