Comrades, now this is indeed inspirational: Euro leaders brimming with optimism opened a seed depository “doomsday vault.” Taking a break from their huge military campaign against violent Islamic totalitarianism in the Middle East, Euro leaders sought to inspire the world with their doomsday vault: “…with climate change and other forces threatening the diversity of life that sustains our planet, Norway is proud to be playing a central role in creating a facility capable of protecting what are not just seeds, but the fundamental building blocks of human civilization," said Stoltenberg, Norwegian PM.

Overflowing with hope for the future these upbeat Euro Collectivists reassured the world that despite the inevitable triumph of Islamic totalitarianism, other emergent diseases, or gigantic asteroid impacts, breakfast tables will never be without Cherrios, or some of that Musilix poop. God knows all the Lucky Charms will be gone.

This vault popped up in a book I just read, Scavengers by David Morrell. First time I had ever heard of it. Good book too, but read Creepers first.

isn't storing fundamental things like this a good thing? Just in case?

Until the nuclear armed nations disband their stock or we have some sort of peace, or the planet and humanity work out their differences - we just might be wise to store a few things like this.

    Is there a downside?
