Don't buy the liberal propaganda. The Vegas shooting could've been stopped w/o gun control laws

Las Vegas rampage could prompt casinos to re-think security: experts

NEW YORK/CHICAGO (Reuters) - A year ago casino magnate Steve Wynn warned that Las Vegas was a “target city” and disclosed a raft of new security measures, including invisible metal detectors and specially trained guards, designed to prevent a large-scale attack.

Whether those measures would have prevented Sunday’s rampage on the strip in which 59 people were killed is unknown. The gunman shot concertgoers from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, a hotel complex owned by MGM Resorts International, a rival of Wynn Resorts Ltd.

But the shooting, which also injured more than 500 people, could spur casino operators to think more like Wynn, who had been dismissed as “obsessed” about security before Sunday’s massacre, a rival casino executive said.

“This could be a turning point,” the executive said, speaking on condition of anonymity because security measures are private. “Every management team is going to move this up to the top of the list.”...

...Hotels already have extensive security for gambling, including dogs that patrol the casinos to sniff for drugs and bombs, and significant security staff that constantly monitors the actions of people, including undercover security.

In an interview with Las Vegas’ KTNV in 2016, Wynn Resorts Chief Executive Steve Wynn said, ”Las Vegas is a target city. We have hardened the target at the Wynn.”

He said his company has metal detectors and devices at every entrance of its building for employees and guests that are nonvisible to the public as well as specially training guards.

”There are almost 40 of them at every opening of my building, plain clothes, armed, on the look-out, changing shift and being relieved every two hours so they don’t get bored,” he said.

“We have done extraordinary things to make sure that we protect our employees and our guests at the hotel,” Wynn said....

You can bet MGM is going to be sued over the lax security. Gun control laws (basically gun bans) didn't stop the fully automatic weapons attack at that concert in France. It doesn't stop bomb attacks in Europe. It doesn't stop truck attacks in Europe.

These fucking rich, liberal celebrities bitching about gun control live in gated, segregated communities and have armed bodyguards. They can go fuck themselves.

The fact that Wynn had such security installed in his casino while MGM did not is going to be a big liability for MGM in the coming lawsuits.

I agree. They will pay for not spending the money others were willing to spend to protect patrons. Don't skimp on safety. It will cost you in the long run.

Clearly, the Vegas hotels and casinos will be changing their security procedures moving forward.

It's very troubling that he was able to get all those arms up to the 32nd floor of a very busy hotel.

The France attacks were by terrorist organizations that's how they get their guns. In the United States we have insane people who can buy guns with no problem and it's very easy to make them automatic... Great job GOP

Another, different, interesting take on it:

The craigslist ad and 4chan postings are very suspicious indeed.

The saddest part of all of this, is the loss of freedom we will all feel.

I live in a country where handguns are illegal, automatic and semi-automatic weapons are illegal, and we have a murder rate 1/7th of that in the US.

I feel no loss of freedom because I can't have a gun. I also feel a lot safer at home than when I go to the US.

If guns kept you safe, the US would be the safest country in the world, not the most dangerous country in the first world.

Your guns are no protection against tyranny either. The firepower your army has with drones, bombs and automatic weapons would render any resistance futile.

The American male obsession with guns costs you 35,000 lives per year. Terrorists have pointed out the ease with which they can acquire guns in the US. You give them the means to attack you in every gun store.
