A top Al Qaeda leader is being reported as killed in a drone attack again.

Problem with this is he was also reported to have been killed back in 2009 as well.

An airstrike Sunday killed a top al-Qaida leader on the FBI's most wanted list for his role in the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole warship, Yemeni officials said. The airstrike resembled earlier U.S. drone attacks, but the U.S. did not immediately confirm it.

Fahd al-Quso was hit by a missile as he stepped out of his vehicle, along with another al-Qaida operative in the southern Shabwa province, Yemeni military officials said. They were speaking on condition of anonymity in accordance with military regulations.

Al-Quso, 37, was on the FBI's most wanted list, with a $5 million reward for information leading to his capture. He was indicted in the U.S. for his role in the 2000 bombing in the USS Cole in Aden, Yemen, in which 17 American sailors were killed and 39 injured.

He served more than five years in a Yemeni prison for his role in the attack and was released in 2007. He briefly escaped prison in 2003 but later turned himself in to serve the rest of his sentence.

A telephone text message claiming to be from al-Qaida media arm confirmed al-Quso was killed in the strike.

Al-Quso was also one of the most senior al-Qaida leaders publicly linked to the 2009 Christmas airliner attack. He has allegedly met with the suspected bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab in Yemen before he left on his way to execute his failed bombing over Detroit.

In December 2010, al-Quso was designated a global terrorist by the State Department, an indication that his role in al-Qaida's Yemen branch had grown more prominent.

Local Yemeni official Abu Bakr bin Farid and the Yemeni Embassy in Washington confirmed al-Quso was killed in Rafd, a remote mountain valley in Shabwa. It is the area where many of al-Qaida leaders are believed to have taken cover, including the U.S.-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, killed in a U.S. airstrike in Yemen last year.

Yemeni government officials reported that Al-Quso and al-Awlaki were killed in an airstrike in 2009 in Rafd, but they both resurfaced alive.

Seems to me Obama likes jumping the gun a lot and reporting successes just to reduce the advantage the GOP has over Democrats on National Defense.

Report after report about senior terrorists biting the dust. The purpose of these reports are not for the those of us who question what he's doing, but to give his supporters something to crow about.

That's all.

When it comes to winning a full-scale war.....that's totally different. He can't do it.

The drones are a great weapon and can be used to deadly effect but they do have their drawbacks confirming you actually killed your target can be difficult and any valuable information or intel at the target site is destroyed and you always run the risk of one going down like in Iran.

Exactly......

Silent death from above

Nothing terrorizes the terrorists like a good drone strike

There is no way to verify kills unless the Yemeni government verifies them.

Yemenis have a revolving door in their prisons. Guys get locked up and miraculously escape.

What's to stop them from fudging the kill reports?

With all due respect to drones and bombers nothing beats a sniper one shot one kill target eliminated no questions no doubts.

The problem with that is insertion, staying undetected, and exfiling the area without getting caught. In an urban environment that's a lot to ask. Especially if you're not from that town.

President Obama 15 - terrorists 0........but he hasn't accomplished anything yet...

Sanaa, Yemen (CNN) -- A senior operative of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula wanted for his role in the USS Cole bombing was killed by an airstrike in Yemen on Sunday, Yemeni officials said.

Fahd al Quso, 37, was killed while riding in a vehicle in the Rafdh district in Shabwa province, according to the officials.

Al Qaeda members confirmed the death in text messages to local media, saying al Quso died along with a companion identified as Fahd Lakdum.

Drone strike kills 13 suspected militants last week

Al Quso was indicted by a federal grand jury in New York in 2003 on 50 counts of terrorism offenses for his role in the October 12, 2000, bombing of the USS Cole in Aden, Yemen. The bombing killed 17 U.S. sailors.

The decimation of the Al Queda continues. Of course the 'Conservatives' are rooting for the Al Queda, because anybody is better than President Obama. The measure of their patriotism.

True but there are pluses and drawbacks to any method used from drones, bombers, snipers, special forces operators. What you use depends greatly on the situation.
