A month before a suspected white supremacist walked into the Holocaust Memorial Museum in downtown Washington and opened fire, the Department of Homeland Security warned that domestic right-wing extremism was the most pressing domestic terrorist threat that the country faced. [See photos of the scene at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum]

Conservatives were outraged that the DHS analysts had singled out antiabortion and antitax radicals for scrutiny. But the report was part of a series that DHS compiles on domestic dangers from all sides of the political spectrum, an area that's taken a back seat to overseas threats.

Aah ... yes, there it is. Now this is very true. Too many people think terrorist equates to Middle Easterner, when in reality it's a tactic, not an ideology or nationality. So many forget that we have many homegrown and domestic terrorists in the US just like every other country.

Ya and the report singled out former military and abortion protesters for a reason. And not cause they are a threat either. This government and this press are busy turning americans into criminals for just one reason. To arrest the innocent and deny the right a vote.

These are the first steps in that plan, they have at least 4 years to work enough people into a hate to pull off their scam.

RGS..you nailed it...they are conveniently exploiting these events for a political agenda..it was the murder of a single individual by a single individual and while tragic it is something that occurs everyday for all kinds of senseless reasons..this is no different and hardly a huge threat to national security

It depends, the reliance on media is more a problem there than what they say or do, the fact that people don't actually pay attention to what the whole story is concerns me more. Terrorism is not exclusive out of the country, as I said, it's a tactic, and one which we are too lenient on with US citizens. Just because they are citizens doesn't make the tactic any less despicable, ruling by fear is bad no matter who does it, destruction with the intent of creating fear is worse than any other form of destruction. Though they should have included groups like PETA and environuts, the truth is that there is a problem in the US with people not willing to face the fact that these criminals are terrorists.

Ummm...Gunny, a couple of things...Firstly the report didn't single out former military as anything more than a target for recruitment by right wing-nuts. Secondly, the report was commissioned and completed under the BUSH ADMINISTRATION.
