Even if he didn't lie about his drug use on to BATF Form 4473, he clearly appeared to be a drug user in the possession of a firearm, on more than one occasion. Why isn't this being addressed by law enforcement officials?

Apparently you've never heard "Ignorance of the law is no excuse." Regardless of how little detailed of an explanation there is on the form to purchase a firearm, if you lie on the form, you've committed a felony.

The same thing with being in possession of any kind of federally-scheduled illicit drug and a firearm at the same time. It doesn't matter if you're in your own home and you have only one join of pot and a firearm locked up in the closet, you have still committed a federal crime. It's called "unlawful user in possession of a firearm", and is just as much of a felony as if I carried my concealed weapon into a United States post office or onto the the parking lot of a public school.
