Not the way it works Care. Obama's administration was charged with the task of seeing to it that there was an appropriate emergency response plan for this type of disaster from day 1 of his administration. That's why we elect them in November but don't put them in office until January. In addition, he's now had well over a year to make sure that federal agencies were staffed with people HE felt capable of handling the jobs.

And let us not forget - since the oil leak disaster, Obama has engaged in three fundraising events, spent six days on vacation, spent six days at sporting events, and seven days on the golf course.

He has only most recently began to appear willing to take the crisis seriously. Prior to this, he simply pointed the finger at BP, and then ran off to do his next fundraising event, golf round, concert show, etc.

Well BO has. And her priority has not been the oil industry. It has been climate change.

My post was meant as a response to the "Blame Bush's MMS crowd that Obama had no time to fire" comments. If that agency is as devoid of ethics and competence as some have said, shouldn't it have been cleaned up? And wouldn't you expect BO and his czarina to be aware of what the MMS was up to? (Well, OK - with BO's inexperience, he might be forgiven for not even knowing there was an MMS.)

What advice was Browner giving him regarding the MMS? Any? I don't know. Maybe she decided on a hands-off approach, considering that, as agencies go, MMS was doing okay, being second only to the IRS in bringing in revenue.
