I did not realize that kind of quackery still existed.

When you do not have an effective vaccine, then variolation is the appropriate strategy.
And clearly we do not have a successful vaccine for covid.

The countries with the lowest covid death % are those that did the least.
Countries in Africa for example, that did nothing, had the lowest death rate.
The countries that tried to "flatten the curve" the most, like the US and England, had the highest death rates.
Countries that had the least mobile populations had the least spread.
The countries that locked down and let NO ONE move around, had the lowest rates of disease and death. Australia, New Zealand, Iceland. Australia had fewer than 1000 deaths per million of population. The USA had more than 3600 deaths per million. 4 times what Australia had.
They locked down the airports, tested everyone coming in, quarantined them for 2 weeks. People in Australia couldn't travel across state lines to visit family, if there was so much as one case in their state.

Canada had 1500 deaths per million. It wouldn't have been that high if we didn't live next door to the USA and truck drivers were allowed to cross the border without testing. We had 200 cases in Canada but when they closed the border and all the Snowbirds came home without being tested we hit 1000 cases in no time, and we were off and running.

So, IYO, the appropriate strategy is to ensure the maximum number of deaths among the most vulnerable. I don't recommend running for a seat on your local board of health.Wrong.

No one died because the recovered patients were returned to their nursing homes. Both Texas and Florida had much higher rates of nursing home deaths than New York. Both Texas and Florida were in the top 1/3 of the nation for deaths in LTC facilities. New York, despite being hit first with covid, was in the middle of the pack.
ALL states were returning covid patients to their nursing homes. The CDC recommended it. Trump promoted the lie that New York was killing nursing home patients because he was angry that Cuomo was getting good press for his handling of the pandemic and Trump was not.

YOU seem to have forgotten ALL the dead people. And those still getting sick.It is well known scientific fact that if an epidemic is not fatal enough for full quarantine with contract tracing, then you get the least number of deaths if you accelerate infection among those least likely to die.
This is what General Washington did with the Continental Army for smallpox, in 1777.
Social distancing and wearing masks is NOT at all appropriate.
That just SLOWS down the infection rate, which essentially conserves easy hosts and prevents any epidemic from ending.
What we did by "flattening the curve", was to make it last 3 years instead of just 3 months like it could have been over in.
We increased the death toll by over a factor of 10.
Epidemics end when herd immunity is achieved.
The only to do that is by spreading recovery immunity as quickly as possible.y
