COVERS THAT NEVER SHOLD HAVE BEEN RECORDED

We have a thread on covers that were better than the original. here is the opposite. In movies, for example, we had the abomination of a remake of Planet of the Apes when anyone with a brain knows no one was EVER gonna top Chuck Heston

when it comes to music here is one of my favorite covers that are an awful remake. And I am limiting this to music actually made by professional musicians who got serious airtime (as opposed to your 8th grade band that wanted to do "Stairway to Heaven")

The Original and still the standard for slide axe men. while Gregg's vocals aren't heard very well here in this 45 year old recording, Duane's guitar sure is

They actually made two. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Both damn good movies. They aren't really remakes, but origin stories. You should check them out.
