Conservatives Attempt To Go (back to the future) Racist On Obama
Conservatives Attempt To Go (back to the future) Racist On Obama
A group of high-profile Republican strategists has put forward a plan that calls for running commercials linking Mr. Obama to incendiary comments by his former spiritual adviser, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., whose race-related sermons made him a highly charged figure in the 2008 campaign. What follows is the full proposal.

Not only was this plan merely a proposal one of several submitted to the Ending Spending Action Fund by third-party vendors but it reflects an approach to politics that Mr. Ricketts rejects, and it was never a plan to be accepted but only a suggestion for a direction to take, Brian Baker, president of the fund, said in a statement.
YEAH RIGHT!!! READ THE DOCUMENT. THIS IS GOP CONSERVATIVE POLITICAL PLAY 101
THIS IS WHAT THE FORMER GOP CHAIRMAN TRIED TO PUT BEHIND. BUT CONSERVATIVE POLITICAL PLAYERS JUST CAN'T RESIST WHAT HAS WORKED IN THE PAST.
RNC Chief to Say It Was 'Wrong' to Exploit Racial Conflict for Votes
By Mike Allen

It was called "the southern strategy," started under Richard M. Nixon in 1968, and described Republican efforts to use race as a wedge issue -- on matters such as desegregation and busing -- to appeal to white southern voters.
Ken Mehlman, the Republican National Committee chairman, this morning will tell the NAACP national convention in Milwaukee that it was "wrong."
"By the '70s and into the '80s and '90s, the Democratic Party solidified its gains in the African American community, and we Republicans did not effectively reach out," Mehlman says in his prepared text. "Some Republicans gave up on winning the African American vote, looking the other way or trying to benefit politically from racial polarization. I am here today as the Republican chairman to tell you we were wrong."

As already correctly noted this strategy failed 4 years ago, it will fail now. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., whose race-related sermons made him a highly charged figure in the 2008 campaign.
