Conservatives Attempt To Go (back to the future) Racist On Obama

A group of high-profile Republican strategists has put forward a plan that calls for running commercials linking Mr. Obama to incendiary comments by his former spiritual adviser, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., whose race-related sermons made him a highly charged figure in the 2008 campaign. What follows is the full proposal.

“Not only was this plan merely a proposal — one of several submitted to the Ending Spending Action Fund by third-party vendors — but it reflects an approach to politics that Mr. Ricketts rejects, and it was never a plan to be accepted but only a suggestion for a direction to take,” Brian Baker, president of the fund, said in a statement.

RNC Chief to Say It Was 'Wrong' to Exploit Racial Conflict for Votes

By Mike Allen
Thursday, July 14, 2005

It was called "the southern strategy," started under Richard M. Nixon in 1968, and described Republican efforts to use race as a wedge issue -- on matters such as desegregation and busing -- to appeal to white southern voters.

Ken Mehlman, the Republican National Committee chairman, this morning will tell the NAACP national convention in Milwaukee that it was "wrong."

"By the '70s and into the '80s and '90s, the Democratic Party solidified its gains in the African American community, and we Republicans did not effectively reach out," Mehlman says in his prepared text. "Some Republicans gave up on winning the African American vote, looking the other way or trying to benefit politically from racial polarization. I am here today as the Republican chairman to tell you we were wrong."

How is this racist?

A conservative SuperPac goes after Rev. Wright and his ties to Obama. No big smurf. It's fair game.

Pundits like Martin Bashir have been Mormon bashing on a regular basis.

Or are you suggesting that Romney backers just have to eat the shit the left dishes out like a battered wife and not strike back?[/QUOTE]

-------------What is happening now is a result of what did not happen in 2008, the vetting of Barak Obama. The press normally had vetted all our candidates, Democrat and Republican, until Obama. Real objective journalism has been dead for some time, but it was truely pushed into it's grave during the 2008 election where the Lamestream media absolutely refused to report anything but complete adoration for Barak and the Democrats. The country has suffered because this vetting was not done, look at the post of the guy who had no idea who Rev. Jeremaiah Wright is. Look at all our former Presidents and see how many of them were assocoated with a murderers like Bill Ayers or Bernadine Dohrn, or racists like Rev. Wright.

Martin Ba-who? Why are you using him to justify what Romney and the GOP leadership are condemning and running away from, and what does Martin whomever have to do with any of this?

Romney backers are at odds with Romney and the GOP leadership? Why, these backers you speak of want to go back to the GOP Southern Strategy tactics?

So going back almost 50 years to look into Romney's past is ok but taking a second look at Obama's 20 year relationship with Wright somehow is not ok uh huh. Be careful you don't step in the bull shit on the way out.

Republicans need to go after an old man in his seventies whose been quiet for the last three years. A former Marine who enlisted during the Vietnam War. Just the kind of American they hate. A black one.

Obama no longer has the messiah aura about him. The clock has run out for him to blame his problems on Bush. That dog won't hunt any more.

His association with Wright can and will hurt him this go-round.

A two-fer! The race card AND the vet card!

No one is attacking his color or his service. Try to keep up.

1. Learn what racism is, because this isn't it.

2. It is a shame they decided against running it. Truth is always effective.

3. This superpac is full of GOP wussies it appears.

Actually, they haven't. The story was dead before it was printed because the PAC in question focuses on reducing the debt, and rejected the proposal without discussion. Romney even stepped up and asked them to not run the ad. the only people getting caught are the ones making this an issue.

Bwwaaaaa...the best you've got is to wish Me dead and give Me neg rep?

You're conflating two separate issues.

But you knew that, didn't you?
