That's not true. From the Supreme Court ruling:

1. The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.

Heller was a shitty ruling, in future court cases it could be interpreted that you can only have a firearm in your home, it said nothing about outside your home.

In a split opinion (see below), the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals

"We are disinclined to engage in another round of historical analysis to determine whether eighteenth-century America understood the Second Amendment to include a right to bear guns outside the home," Judge Richard Posner wrote in the court's majority opinion.
"The Supreme Court has decided that the amendment confers a right to bear arms for self-defense, which is as important outside the home as inside. The theoretical and empirical evidence (which overall is inconclusive) is consistent with concluding that a right to carry firearms in public may promote self-defense," he continued.

In a radio interview on Thursday with Albany’s WGDJ-AM, New York governor Andrew Cuomo said that he plans to work with state legislators next month to submit a proposal for new gun-control laws; in particular, Cuomo said, “our focus is assault weapons,” because current state laws regulating the weapons “have more holes that Swiss cheese.”

“I don’t think legitimate sportsmen are going to say, ‘I need an assault weapon to go hunting,’” he said.

Cuomo continued, “Confiscation could be an option. Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option — keep your gun but permit it.”

I suggest that before Gov. Cuomo call upon the citizens of NY state to control firearms more, or confiscate them,. He and his political cronies representing the the people of NY, in both Cities, State and Federal government surrender their weapons first. (emphasis mine)

ok that's from the 7th circuit court that's not from the supreme court. and even the 7th Circuit is redirecting the true purpose of the second amendment.

I have a suggestion, change the name of the NRA to NRAM. Then anyone who is a member would be a member of a militia. Not that it really matters it would just be great seeing the left frothing at the mouth. Surly even the most rabid of leftists could not make the claim that only the government can dictate what is a militia.

One of my pretend liberal friends was bragging about how he had been buying gold and how smart he was. I mentioned he will be smart until they confiscate his gold. He said they would never do that. The right to bear arms has nothing to do with hunting animals.
