The democrat's grand plan on economics - "We take money from the businesses and give it to the people, and we'll all be rich".

Bernie Sanders Asked About Failures of Socialism in Venezuela and Refuses to Comment

may 27 2016 LEÓN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: I am sure that you know about this topic: various leftist governments, especially the populists, are in serious trouble in Latin America. The socialist model in Venezuela has the country near collapse. Argentina, also Brazil, how do you explain that failure?

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: You are asking me questions…

LEÓN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: I am sure you’re interested in that.

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: I am very interested, but right now I’m running for President of the United States.

LEÓN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: So you don’t have an opinion about the crisis in Venezuela?

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: Of course I have an opinion, but as I said, I’m focused on my campaign.

It really is AMAZING that none of the leftists want to talk about this. Why do you think that is? This is the Bernie philosophy of governance so he should explain it all to us, succinctly-) It has to be for the good of everyone, correct Comrade Bernie supporters-) How is it that your favored governing system has gone so wrong in Venezuela and Cuba? You need explain it to us, pahleeze-)

What you people are too dumb to understand is that just because a socialist country might be a failure, it doesn't mean the idea of socialism is a failure. Denmark has a much lower poverty rate than the US. The work week is shorter. The percentage of people employed is higher. Wages are overall higher. It's also the number one place for business in the world.

Beyond that, the US has always been socialist. Our economy isn't a free market one - it's a mixed economy. Our defense department is biggest socialist institution in the world.

Imo, Bernie's a fool, but more or less harmless one. He doesn't believe govt should confiscate means of production. His view is more of one of the liberal western European democracies, probably of the 1970s mode. His brother's an expatriot in France.

But, socialism isn't really relevant to the primary campaign in the US, so he refuses to be taken off message.

A shopping reprieve for struggling Venezuelans
Mon, Jul 18, 2016 - WEEKEND OPENING: At least 35,000 people were able to cross the border to shop in Cucuta, Colombia, on Saturday and an equal number were expected yesterday
Tens of thousands of Venezuelans on Saturday poured into Colombia to buy food and medicine after authorities again briefly opened the border that has been closed for almost a year — and more were expected yesterday. A similar measure earlier in the week led to dramatic scenes of the elderly and mothers storming Colombian supermarkets and highlighted how daily life has deteriorated for millions in Venezuela, where the economy has been in a freefall since the 2014 crash in oil prices.

Venezuelans on Saturday cross the Simon Bolivar Bridge linking San Antonio del Tachira in Venezuela with Cucuta, Colombia, to buy basic supplies.

At least 35,000 Venezuelans entered Colombia on Saturday, and their entry took place “in an orderly manner and under conditions of security,” the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. The border was opened for about eight hours and would be opened again yesterday, it said. Saturday’s opening took businesses in the border city of Cucuta by surprise since it had been announced that the border would only be opened yesterday.

Colombian Minister of Defense Luis Carlos Villegas said “we have made a great effort to have sufficient supplies” for the Venezuelans expected to stream across the border over the weekend. Tachira Governor Jose Vielma, whose state borders Colombia, said that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro supported the opening, ordering that people “not be disturbed” when they crossed into Colombia. Maduro blames the shortages of food, medicine and basic staples on his opponents, who he accuses of trying to sow economic chaos.

Venezuela extends state of emergency for third time
July 15, 2016 -- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro extended the nationwide state of economic emergency for a third time this week.
The government decree, issued on Thursday, declared that the state of emergency will once again be extended for an additional 60 days after a similar extension in May. Maduro's government said the state of emergency has been repeatedly extended "given the extraordinary circumstances of social, economic, political, natural and ecological order that seriously affect the national economy."

El Periodico reports that Venezuela's National Assembly rejected the extension, but that it was ultimately upheld by the Supreme Tribunal of Justice. The state of emergency allows Maduro to distribute goods, restrict the monetary system, and pass new legislation, all without the involvement of the National Assembly, which has been controlled by the opposition party MUD since 2015.

On Tuesday, Maduro ordered the military to take control of five ports as part of "war strategies" to provide food and medicine amid the country's economic crisis and named Maj. Gen. Efraín Velasco Lugo as the new head of Venezuela's ports agency.

It's no surprise Sanders wouldn't comment on Venezuela.
Oh My: Bernie Sanders Thinks Bread Lines Are a Good Thing
Bernie Sanders heaped praise on Fidel Castro in 1985 interview

Bernie Sanders is not your average run of the mill socialists, he is, in fact, a communist. Redistribution is what he is all about, and if that means you have 14 families living in one house, and sharing everything, living in poverty, then he's good with that--as long as there is no one that has one more dollar in their pocket than someone else does.

It's just too bad that JFK wasn't in the Oval Office when Sanders praised Fidel Castro. Kennedy would have had him up in front of a congressional hearing in a New York minute to get asked a ton of questions about his loyalty to this country and his thoughts on Democracy. After that he would have booted his ass all the way to the USSR.

You're a joke.

Our military is not even close to being socialist.

Denmark is not a Socialist Country. It has a population of far fewer citizens than the city of New York. Any comparison between the United States, 330 million people, and Denmark is a show of desperation on the part of Socialists.

Bernie Sanders is a full blown Socialist. He is smart enough to know that we would never convert directly to Socialism. That's why he was working hard to sucker in all the freeloaders into thinking with Socialism, everything could be FREE...NO ONE PAID for your education, paying off your loans, for your health care. Once that is accomplished, and our debt is in total ruin, then we are told that the GOVERNMENT must take over the businesses because obviously, they are the reason everything is amuck.

You're such an idiot. Your first defintion is a complete contradiction. The first definition says "owned...by a centralized government." While that may happen in some countries, it isn't a defining characteristic of socialism. The word, at its core meaning, means social ownership. As in the CITIZENS OWN IT. As in, it is paid for with their tax dollars. The citizens in ANY country that pay taxes for services are examples of SOCIALISM. That is what your definitions means by the "collective".
