Columbus Day is a fraud. Christopher Columbus did not discover America, He never reached the North American mainland. The closest he got was to some islands in the Carribean Sea. The first European to reach North America was the Viking Leif Erikson who landed in Eastern Canada in 1000AD . The remnants of the Viking settlements are still visible today. The Viking settlement was later abandoned and its only a guess why that happened. Some say it was devastated by an epidemic of some kind, while others say the wars with local natives forced them to leave.

Yea, we all know that.

But the Vikings didn’t start massive colonization and modernization of the Americas. So, historically irrelevant.

We are really celebrating white Christian colonization and all the good it brought.

Global Cooling.
The climate in that region (Greenland, etc.) became cooler than it had been when first settled and was too cold for too long to survive~stay there.

It was the "America's"; North and South, that he gets credit for being the first European of more recent era to have sailed and surveyed extensively. Note that at the time, most of Europe wasn't aware of the slight excursions and settlement by the Norse.

EXCERPT:
"Between 1492 and 1504, Italian explorer Christopher Columbus led four Spanish transatlantic maritime expeditions of discovery to the Americas. These voyages led to the widespread knowledge of the New World. This breakthrough inaugurated the period known as the Age of Discovery, which saw the colonization of the Americas, a related biological exchange, and trans-Atlantic trade. These events, the effects and consequences of which persist to the present, are often cited as the beginning of the modern era."

You say it is a fraud, but he was the first one to let the rest of the world know there was something on this side of the planet besides China. Erickson did no such thing for whatever reason he may have had.

I hear people make the claim all the time that Columbus never set foot on North America which is totally incorrect.
Columbus made four voyages to the new world and on his 4th voyage went ashore and explored the land for a short time on what is today called Panama and also landed and spent time exploring Honduras.
Although, that area is referred to as Central America, it is actually the southernmost region of North America.

All true. But Columbus is generally credited with discovering America (or at least the Americas) because until he came, all previous visits resulted in a net change of zero, it was basically just a visit to an interesting place then left, whereas with Columbus, it can be directly traced back and attributed from that event the eventual colonization of the Americas with permanent Europeans.

Columbus did discover South America. The Italians are proud of that heritage. Leif Erikson did discover what is now Canada. Unfortunately, Leif's discovery did not lead to the United States of America. Columbus' discovery led to a period of exploration, conquest, and colonization for centuries. Columbus' next voyage had him carrying a cadre of Spanish nobles. When they went to Columbus' first landing, they found the former crew abusing the natives which was never Columbus' intent. There is a lot more to the story....Look it up. And don't rely on the school textbook "The People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn. It's it's fictional history. Unfortunately they're teaching it in our schools.

That is pure rationalization. It does not matter what happened after Columbus landed. The dumb bastard thought he had reached India.

Viktor hates America and Christians, which is why he's sniveling here. He's pissed off the EVul Xians tossed out his beloved Muslim masters in Spain and and their Jewish allies were told to convert or leave, and Jews like Viktor find this sort of treatment by the sub-human goy as arrogant and unfair.
