Climate Change - The Simple Argument

edthecynic said:
Again you are dishonestly using Troposphere data, and outdated at that!

............

All of the data tracks seem to mirror each other interms of anomoly from a baseline. Whether it is the tropospheric data or the ground station data. The satelite data automatically averages for the globe while the ground station data must be adjusted, averaged and massaged until the raw data no longer exists.

The "Blink Comparrisons" of ground station data is interesting in that every adjustment made is always upward. I find this to be interesting when the heat island effect should be producing higher temperatures in any event and yet the raw data is still adjusted upward.

Kind of makes you wonder what the upward adjustments are based on, doesn't it?

The only people cooking their data are Ditto-Heads, Christie and Spencer, with their troposphere satellite data.
I can make blanket accusations too!

That does not make the accusations credible. Even less so witnessing your flailing and avoidance today.

Here's how it appears that the environuts are working:

Dropping darts from a ladder until one falls in the bullseye.

Why does this analogy work so well? How many different "primary" causes have we been through already?

Another wrinkle. The plot thickens.

Jennifer Marohasy » The Absurdity of a Reliable Average Global Surface Temperature

The climate scientists connected with the IPCC do, however, claim not only that they have measured average global temperature, but that this has been carried out with such accuracy that an increase of less than one degree Celsius over 100 years could be confidently related to increased emissions of greenhouse gases over the period, rather than to the errors of the measurement.

James Hansen, the pioneer scientist who is credited with having launched this belief in the influence of increasing greenhouse gases and continues to promote it, has admitted publicly, on his website that the measurements are completely unreliable:

When asked what is meant by Surface Air Temperature (SAT) Dr Hansen explains:

“I doubt that there is a general agreement how to answer this question. Even at the same location, the temperature near the ground may be very different from the temperature 5 ft above the ground and different again from 10ft or 50ft above the ground. Particularly in the presence of vegetation (say in a rain forest) the temperature above the vegetation may be very different from the temperature below the top of the vegetation. A reasonable suggestion might be to use the average temperature of the first 50ft of air either above ground or on top of the vegetation. To measure SAT we have to agree on what it is and, as far as I know, no such standard has been adopted. I cannot imagine that a weather station would build a 50ft stack of thermometers to be able to find the true SAT at its location.”

From your link:
"Despite no global warming in 10 years and recording setting cold in 2007-2008"

You get more ridiculous with each post!

"Record setting cold" my ass!
How the hell can the 5th WARMEST and 8th WARMEST years be RECORD SETTING COLD!?!

NCDC: Climate of 2008 - Annual Report
NOAA: 2008 Global Temperature Ties as 8th Warmest on Record

The year 2008 tied with 2001 as the eighth warmest year on record for the Earth, based on the combined average of worldwide land and ocean surface temperatures through December, according to a preliminary analysis by NOAA's National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C.

NCDC: Climate of 2007 - Annual Report
Global Temperatures

For 2007, the global land and ocean surface temperature was the fifth warmest on record. Separately, the global land surface temperature was warmest on record while the global ocean temperature was 9th warmest since records began in 1880.

That does not make the accusations credible. Even less so witnessing your flailing and avoidance today.

They are more credible than your post claiming 2007 and 2008 were "record setting cold" years.

More flailing...since I didn't claim that.

You posted the link that said it, so you are implying you Copy & Paste without ever reading what you post!

The site is Canadian perhaps they had record setting cold in Canada. That wouldn't surprise me or perhaps they are using 2000 as their baseline. Hell why not? Hansen arbitrarily uses the 1950 something to 1980 something as his. That by the way was the time period of the last solar minimum. That allows him to claim more extreme warming.

OK, You want surface temperature. You got it.

I hate posting GISS data as long as "cook the books" Hansen is there but they admit that 2008 was the coolest since 2000. 2009 is shaping up to be even cooler.

GISS Surface Temperature Analysis
Global Temperature Trends: 2008 Annual Summation
Originally posted Dec. 16, 2008, with meteorological year data. Updated Jan. 13, 2009, with calendar year data.

Calendar year 2008 was the coolest year since 2000, according to the Goddard Institute for Space Studies analysis [see ref. 1] of surface air temperature measurements.

They will further down state that it is the ninth warmest on record but of course that is the case when one is just declining from a solar maximum peak.

Coldest year since 2000 is NOT "record setting cold."

NCDC: Climate of 2009 - February

Boreal Winter (December - February) Winter Global Temperature Highlights

The combined global land and ocean surface temperature for boreal winter (December-February) was 54.72 degrees F, 0.92 degree F above the 20th century mean of 53.8 degrees F and ranking eighth warmest.

Separately, the global land surface temperature was 39.31 degrees F, 1.51 degrees F above the 20th century mean of 37.8 degrees F, ranking as ninth warmest on record.

The global ocean surface temperature of 61.20 degrees F ranked as seventh warmest on record and was 0.70 degree F above the 20th century mean of 60.5 degrees F.

Record setting cold in a province in Canada does not mean there was record setting cold GLOBALLY! There was record warmth in Brazil, but that doesn't make it a GLOBAL warming record either.

The 20th century mean means they are using the 100 years of the 20th century as the baseline. You obviously don't bother to read my posts either.

Well apparently that is what the site is talking about and you are now talking about a red herring. You know damned well that was not the main points of the site. But you must ignore that science becasue it is in deirect opposition to your blind belief. so here we have another example of avoidance.

I wish you would use the quote feature so I know what "red herring" you are talking about.

I have avoided nothing, you have avoided admitting anything you posted is wrong no matter what evidence I supply. And so far nearly everything you have posted has been wrong or deliberately deceptive, like using troposphere graphs instead of surface graphs.

I have given you both troposphere and SAT. I also provided you information where Hansen himself admits that SAT is an arbitrary measure. So all these graphs he puts out on SAT is hogwash based on his already debunked computer models.

Oh they had record setting cold last summer amd this was more than one province. Also Alaska and I believe North Dakota. I can look it up for ya if ya like.

Popular Technology.net: Global Cooling in 2008

You just keep posting the same deceptions from different sites. This link is dishonestly using a troposphere graph.
Here is the actual distribution of heat and cold for the whole GLOBE for 2008. Most of the globe was warmer except the northern Pacific and parts of the USA and Canada.

map-blended-mntp-200801-200812-pg.gif

I choose option C.

I do, too. Presenting this as an either / or proposition is both misleading and disingeuous. The entire case for AGW rests on cherry picking data, ignoring data and rigging results. To say that we must act now or die is ridiculous.

The Earth is to man as the dog is to the flea. Men arguing about how to best determine the future of the planet is like fleas arguing about which way the dog is going to run.

Bullshit.

We are adding billions of tons of CO2 to the atmosphere every year. We created a hole in the ozone with CFCs. We are effecting this planet.

Then why does your false prophet Hansen state that 2008 was the coolest since 2000.

Thou who speakest with forked tongue be the dishonest one.

Did you bother to check out all the links on that site about snow caving in roofs, all the record breaking lows, about Giselles freezing to death in Tibet, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Besides what do you have against tropospheric data except when it suits your purpose. It is certainly more accurate than SAT.

Because we are at the bottom of the solar cycle.

CO2 is only one climate influence

The Sun could alway trump CO2.

The Sun could burn the Earth to a cinder.
