The controversial Cyber Information Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) is likely to die in the Senate, according to US News. The bill, which has stirred up internet privacy watchdogs and sites like Reddit, followed closely in the footsteps of the last unsuccessfully proposed privacy bills,...

IMHO ANY government interference in the internet should be fought against foot and mouth. This is the last bastion against censorship and is among our most important places to exchange ideas and gather news/views not available elsewhere.

Finally, some good news on Freedom & Liberty. Doesn't happen much these days. Big Brother trying to force another oppressive law in the name of 'Security', has become the norm. It's all about the Fear Mongering coercion. Gotta scare the sheep. And why not? It's a proven winner. But they'll probably rename it and try to force it through again. That's how it's usually done. So stay vigilant.

It's always for 'Security' and 'For the Children.' Both Parties are still beating those dead horses. They're both Un-American disgraces at this point. We desperately need a Third Party.

It's a rare lucky break; these fake-conservative nutball motherfuckers will be back next year if not again this session.

Yeah, i hear ya. It's hard to be optimistic these days. They'll likely just rename it something like the 'You And Your Poor Children Will Spontaneously Combust If We Don't Pass This Immediately' Act. It's always for the children, don't ya know. ;)

Wait all the conservative democrats became republicans, just ask starkey...he said his college books told him so.....

Internet Tax Bill and Internet 'Security' Bill in the same week. Big Brother really went for complete takeover hah? What a sad country we've become. Government only serves itself now. It has stopped serving the People. We're rapidly going backwards as a nation. It's starting to look and feel like the time of pre-Revolution King-Rule. More & more Americans are now fearing and loathing their Government. These are very dark times for sure.

You might wan to look into that a little bit. You seem to have some good instincts. That government has stopped serving "the people" does not mean government has no masters.

Consider that the reality is that with few exceptions (Washington, Jefferson, Jackson, and the Roosevelts come to mind) leadership in US government hasn't been and remains not smart enough to work without direction.

Start with the results, America's condition today, and instead of blaming the people who inherited it, follow the money back to its roots and you'll find the FIRST glaring dose of corporate influence was Kissinger giving Nixon the go-ahead to take Arabs off the oil price-leash. In 1973 oil went from $3/bbl to about $10/bbl overnight thanks to Nixon/Kissinger, instead of being raised over a period of years as could have been done.

By 1976 Ford was captive to corporate influence. All it took with Ford was telling him how smart he was. After he left office he charted the course that Clinton took to the tune of more than $80kk in his first eight years out of office.

The bottom line is the federal government still has a master, it just isn't natural born citizens any more. The new masters are bloodless entities having all the legal rights of natural born persons with none of the limits of natural born citizens. Corporations own every part of the federal government.

While Nixon and Ford were pioneers, Reagan, working for Don Regan, took corporations to the hoop and slam-dunk sealed corporate dominance of all aspects of the American scene. There are people posting here stupid enough to believe that supply creates demand. That is quite the same dunk, dumbing white trash down to that level.

Yeah, Big Brother is brazenly emboldened at this point. He went for a devastating Two-Fer this week. Internet Tax Bill and Internet 'Security' Bill. But at least some stood up and thwarted him, for the moment anyway. The People don't want, and never asked for these new Laws. So who is Government serving at this point? Well, the obvious answer is itself. This is a very sad time in America.

And the bastards tried to do it under the radar, while Americans were still looking at Boston. Thank God we refocused our attention and saw this bullshit before it progressed too far.
