Feel free to create a thread about the "inherent hypocrisy" of all the major religions if you will. However, THIS thread is referring to the BLATANT and RAMPANT hypocrisy of the Religious Right.

Meh. My point is I can't get myself into an emotional tizzy about any religion being hypocritical. It's a given.

Like Teapartysamuri, I just love it when liberals try to discuss something they have absolutely NO CLUE about. Evangelical Christians are such an evil group, aren't they? Oh my, since I AM an Evangelical Christian, a member of the religious right, AND a tea party member, then apparently I must represent EVERYTHING that is evil in the world.

First of all, I don't know which church is telling callers to go to a government agency, but I can assure you that it is NOT any that I have heard of. I have given A LOT of money, food, clothing, supplies, and time to a shelter and food bank that is run by Tulsa's Evangelical churches here in the area. This Thanksgiving we will be serving the traditional dinner to a large number of families. And we will hold hands and pray that God will help us and bless us. However, let me say that after our pastor met a guy at the church and he tried to rob him, we've gotten away from having people come to the church and the pastor meeting them. Unfortunately, it's just not safe to do that anymore. So we refer them to the shelter or to the food bank.

Christ was the ULTIMATE Conservative. He believed in PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, the two words that make liberals just absolutely shudder. Evangelical Christians believe that THERE IS A PLACE for government, but that like our founding fathers, government should be limited, small, and out of my life. We believe that the "centralized" concept that liberals hold as almost a religion is NOT the answer. The Department of Education is destructive and counter productive. Education should be a LOCAL issue, like most things should be. Welfare, unemployment, and food stamps, an attempt to do good for those who CANNOT work, are just as destructive as anything to those who don't want to or will not work. Like Christ, we believe that you can sit alongside the road all day and do nothing. It is your right. But don't come looking for a handout when you get hungry. And yes, if you come to us for help, we will help you. But our grass needs mowed, the rugs need vacuumed and there's always dusting to do. Amazing how many people back out when we explain that to them. We also believe that stealing is stealing. If the government does it, it is just as much stealing as when a man with a mask does it.

I personally believe in the death penalty. The reason? I can guarantee that 100% of those who have had the death penalty carried out WILL NOT reoffend. I think abortion is murder and should only be for rape, incest, or to preserve the life of the mother. It too is a LOCAL ISSUE. If Seattle, Washington wants to make it legal and free to those who want it, GREAT! But if Tulsa, Oklahoma wants to make it unlawful, then that too should be our right. The Hippocratic oath mentions abortion specifically. It's not in the Bible because it was obviously wrong. There are some things that you really shouldn't have to define.

About once a month, we go to an all black church downtown or we have them come to ours. My Lord in heaven there are some people who KNOW how to worship. Each time we have dinner and we talk. We're not that different. We have similar views on the issues of the day. But like others, they have been fed this crap about the evangelical christian right that has no basis of fact. As the pastor of that church whispered to me, "I agree, but sweet Jesus, don't let anyone know."

The bible has no problem with war or capital punishment. So no hypocrisy there.

There's also nothing in the bible about abortion one way or the other.

So, yes it is quite clear that abortion is wrong according to the Bible. Those that say otherwise, just want to blind their eyes and their mind to what is so plainly written in the Good Word.

Why pick on Christians? We have about a dozen brushfire wars going on right now and it seems the agnostic left likes it just fine if drone NATO bombs kill civilians, American citizens and selected international thugs as long as a democrat is in office. The fact is that more Christian agencies feed and care for the poor than union thugs, federal employees or poverty pimps ever thought about.

I'm not "picking on" Christians. As one myself, that is surely not my intent.

Other than the lies that the left want to use to supplant Christianity.

I have been fighting all my life against the lie that Jesus was a socialist or liberal.
