This has to be one of the most ridiculous things that I've seen in a while.

For those who don't know...
School is compulsory for children for 9 years. (9th grade)
Then their education system becomes competitive... only slightly at first but getting more competitive as you progress. It gets rather cutthroat at the college level.

So most parents provide their children with private tutoring...for math and science and foreign languages especially.
These education courses WERE hugely funded by investors in the American stock markets...(and they had great profits)
By decree from Beijing they must all now be non-profit organizations.

Tens of thousands of people have just lost their jobs teaching or whatever for these tutoring services.
Lots of investors have lost 90% or more of their investments.

What becomes of the children? Anybody's guess.

sorry but I dont have the time or desire to worry about chinas education system,,

So much for Chinese Communist egalitarianism. This is a move to consolidate credentialed education, and the opportunities for advancement that come with it.
This way the elite have an even greater decision on which families succeed, and which do not. Nepotism, and cronyism were already rife in China. It is about to get a whole lot worse.

I'm going to agree with you on this.
Its a way to control who knows what is really happening with their country and who doesn't.
Another "long game" approach to kill the messenger.
When you have a population that has a significant portion which fully understands economics and economic principles....it can be devastating to a communist oligarchy. Oligarchies can be taken down when people become united. In fact history is full of just those exact sort of stories. (including theirs)

But people don't give up on their children quite so easily either. A group of families can band together to hire a tutor...and likely will for a while.

Underground churches would be the likely locus for just those sort of groups forming.

Well, this runs much deeper than tutors. In the Chinese system people are sponsored, and recommended for places in the most prestigious schools. The competition is fierce, so if someone's family is not 'tied in' to wealth, or connected in some way to the party their opportunities toward advancement are extremely limited.
However, the sponsorship of these corporations in search of future workers kinda trumped the old system. Apparently the party, and the ruling elite were none to happy with all that.
