This is an illustrated interview with Dr. Zaher Sahloul of the Syrian American Medical Society.

"So one child, who was 5 years old, who was basically born before the crisis but spent most of her time under siege, Daraya has been under siege for more than three years."

Next time the US wants to go to war, maybe it should consider the consequences of such actions BEFORE they go, and not 13 years AFTER.

When you attempt to overthrow dictators of nations that you want oil to flow through, well what the hell do you expect!?!

Assad is an ass but at least some of those children would have a chance for a peaceful life and had the U.S. not removed Saddam, well Syria would not be the issue it is today!

No, did I say the US went to war in Syria? No, I did not.

The US went to war in Iraq. If you know anything about the region it's that Iraq and Syria are like brothers.

They're both states which have been Ba'athist for the majority of their independence, and there were attempts at making one country out of them, problem was the leaders on both sides were unwilling to accept the leader of the other side being in charge, so it never happened.

When the US went to Iraq in 2003 the region was destabilized. The border isn't exactly the tightest border in the world:

With the destabilized Iraq, Syria was always going to find it difficult to keep control.

Consequences of war do not always stay inside of the man made borders. In this case it didn't.

Protests happened. The Arab Spring played a part, and was perhaps helped by the invasion of Iraq, and the instability and porous border meant when protests happened in Syria, others took advantage of this, for example ISIS which was growing in the region.
