Chadian President Keen on Peace in Darfur

Chadian President, Idris Debby sent a clear message to participants in the forum recently held at the Chadian town of Um jaras, saying war would soon be over for good as several armed movements reportedly expressed keenness to join peace process.

In a relevant development, the Chairman of the Darfur Regional Authority, Dr. Al-Tijani Al-Sisi, together with the head of DDPD implantation office, Dr. Amin Hassan Omar presented a report to President Al Bashir on the deliberations of Um Jaras forum.

"We handed over a message form President Al Bashir to his Chadian counterpart relating to bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them," said Al-Sisi, adding, the visit also availed the opportunity for briefing the Chadian president on conditions in Darfur.

The DRA Chairman further added that during the visit they took part in Um Jaras forum which was attended by some Darfur leaders to discuss ways of restoring peace and stability to Darfur through attracting a number of non-DDPD signatories to join the process. He described the forum as was central to peace in Darfur.

On the other hand, Al-Sisi said he briefed the President on rebels' contacts committee meetings with non-DDPD signatories in Kampala, disclosing some of these movements keenness to join the peace process.

For his part, head of the DDPD implementation follow-up office stated that the forum was a clear message by the Chadian President to participants in the forum that the time of war in Darfur will soon be gone, and that peace has now become the target goal for development in both Sudan and Chad.

In a related development, the Norway ambassador to Sudan who was received by the DRA Chairman promised his country's cooperation with the DRA , particularly in development projects in the region.
