“We would like to hear your views and ideas for the next stage of our shop’s long history, and share some of the success stories from other communities who have united to save their shops.”

The campaigners have set up a Facebook page, Save Plumpton Village Shop.

Thank you to everyone who came to the meeting last night, or sent their apologies.

By way of an update - we have been advised that the cost of buying and refitting the current shop premises is probably a bit too high for us to raise as a community.

We are exploring the idea of buying a shipping container, which can be made to look very attractive, and could contain community space, a shop, a Post Office counter and anything else the community would like. However, we need a piece of land to place this on. If you, or someone you know, might be interested in renting or selling an area of land in the village for this, please get in touch with Elaine on 894237 or Kimberley on 885329 for a chat, in confidence.

In the mean time, we are exploring ways to keep getting newspapers into the village. If you have a regular paper order, or would like one, please contact Elaine Martin on 894237.
