It is regularly said that a candidate for a political office or a politician seeking reelection in the United States cannot win their bid if they were to criticize Israel for its oppressive policies against the Palestinian people. The theory claims that such a candidate that is willing to speak out against Israel's crimes risks becoming the target of the Israeli Lobby.
I think this is true. If you watched the Netanyahu speech at Congress last week, it made it pretty obvious
Congress goes out of its way to praise and protect Israel no matter how heinous a crime she commits. There is absolutely no fair and open debate on the issue of Palestine in this country. Our politicians are seen regularly repeating Israeli talking points
It is pretty ridiculous how Israel controls us. It isn't just our Congress, but also our Media. Our politicians and Media say the exact same thing as Israel without fact checking. Lie after Israeli lie ends up getting repeated in this country and eventually taken as fact. You would think we were safeguarded against such foreign control by at least OUR media, but unfortunately that is not the case.
