I think this is true. If you watched the Netanyahu speech at Congress last week, it made it pretty obvious

It is pretty ridiculous how Israel controls us. It isn't just our Congress, but also our Media. Our politicians and Media say the exact same thing as Israel without fact checking. Lie after Israeli lie ends up getting repeated in this country and eventually taken as fact. You would think we were safeguarded against such foreign control by at least OUR media, but unfortunately that is not the case.

In case anyone doubts the accuracy of your OP, there's an anniversary coming up next Wednesday (June 8th) that should change their minds.

    From Wiki:

"The USS Liberty incident was an attack on a United States Navy technical research ship, USS Liberty, by Israeli Air Force jet fighter aircraft and Israeli Navy torpedo boats, on June 8, 1967, during the Six-Day War.[2]

"The combined air and sea attack killed 34 crew members (naval officers, seamen, two Marines, and one civilian), wounded 170 crew members, and severely damaged the ship.[3]

"At the time, the ship was in international waters north of the Sinai Peninsula, about 25.5 nmi (29.3 mi; 47.2 km) northwest from the Egyptian city of Arish.[1][4]

Liberty was overflown for hours by the Israelis and their first assaults knocked out the ship's ability to get out a 911 call. Eventually a seaman who won a Silver Star for his efforts jerry-rigged an antenna and the Sixth Fleet sent help.
    Twice.

Both rescue missions were aborted by DC.
The first by Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara.
And the second by President Lyndon Baines Johnson.

"This time President Johnson ordered the recall with the comment that he did not care if every man drowned and the ship sank, but that he would not embarrass his allies."

USS Liberty incident - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I always assumed the motive for the attack stemmed from some incriminating Israeli radio intercepts that Liberty swept up.

Recently a more chilling possibility has linked the attack to Operation Northwoods.

No, because the ultraconservative AIPAC lobby (not "Israel lobby", J Street condemns Israeli war crimes and illegal settlements while supporting Israel's right to exist and actual defense) enjoys more power and influence than any non-industry (banks, defense contractors, etc) lobby among the halls of Congress.

The result is that most national politicians absolutely despise George Washington's great advice on diplomacy and foreign affairs:

Thus vast bipartisan supermajorities of both houses hold permanent, inveterate loyalty not just to an allied country, but to every single policy enacted by that foreign country's government regardless of its legality or harm to the interest and security of their own country.

And of course, just as the worthless and dishonest dodge/smear of "If you oppose Obama's policies, you must be a racist" is applied by many diehard, uncritical supporters of all he does, even more frequently the worthless and dishonest dodge/smear of "If you oppose any of the Israeli government's policies, you must be an anti-Semite" is applied regardless of context, merit, or the person they're applying it to. Even someone who pledges undying fealty to Israel like Obama but takes a few token oppositional stances against some of their government's blatantly illegal actions because they harm his own country's interests is condemned by dishonest blowhards for insufficient loyalty. It's a sick, sad joke that drives much of the boneheaded and counterproductive foreign policy of both nations.

According to Ed Koch, who criticized Obama, the Jews will still vote Democrat and it will not hurt Obama.

There was also a time in living memory when whites in the US south would never vote Republican and Blacks in the same part of the country would never vote for a Democrat.

If Obama or any other POTUS was serious about rolling back the Israeli occupation of Palestine, he or she would start in Brussels:

"If international civil society is serious about urgently ending Israel’s violations of Palestinian rights, including ending the occupation, then suspension of SWIFT transactions to and from Israeli banks offers an instrument to help bring about a peaceful resolution of an intractable conflict...

"SWIFT links 8,740 financial institutions in 209 countries. Without access to SWIFT and its interbank payment network, countries are unable either to pay for imports or to receive payment for exports.

"In short, no payment — no trade."

What about Israel's 200-plus nuclear weapons?

Does their use become more likely if Israel is cut off from US-supplied conventional arms?

There is no Palestine...never has been a country named Palestine, and there never will be either. As long as the so called Palestinian people support Hamas, they'll never get any land. They should migrate back to where they originally came from, and it's not in Israel!

In 1948 two -thirds of the people living where "the Jewish State of Israel" exists today, i.e., in Palestine, were not Jews.

Most Arabs and Christians and even some of the Jews living there at that time knew what would happen if England got its "little, loyal Jewish Ulster in a sea of potentially hostile Arabism."
