Cal State system ditches SAT/ACT, citing ‘equity and fairness,’ ‘high-stress’.

Have you guys ever heard about these school freaks teaching these kids about “ furries”
they get to dress up and these freaks go and have sex as these furry animals , now they are teaching it in schools wtihout the dumb ass parents knowing what it is or what it is about.

Many colleges are going to an essay application for entry.

I've had to submit an essay with every college application I've made ... I didn't apply to many colleges, but essays were required for all of them ... along with minimum test scores on the SAT, and it was just two back then ... verbal and math ... plus the essay with the SAT ... plus a big fat check ...

School choice which means a school CANNOT deny an education to any student that apies. If they are a behavioral disruption the school MUST still accept them and has to carefully watch disciinary measures. VERY CAREGULLY

They can deny the education if the student doesn't pay tuition ... or are you in California? ...

We're talking about college ... not high school ... most states have compulsary K-12 school systems ... strictly voluntary after that ...

All I needed was dough in 1979 and I was a high school dropout.

How did these schools manage to survive prior to the 60s when these test became common place?

These test are a money making scam. The test themselves bring in more than a billion dollar a in revenue. Add in all the money made off test prep and you now know why they are such a big thing.

In the end all they do is measure how good you are at taking test.

They test many things, including if a would-be applicant gives enough of a shit to prepare for, register for, and sit for an important test.

Most kids parents schedule the test and make them go take it.

More to the point is that there is a huge advantage to those kids who come from families who have the means to pay for their child to take a Test Prep course. This is my biggest beef with these test, it is all a scam to make money

You don't need to pay big bucks to prepare for the tests. If a student has the discipline to study, and takes a shitload of practice tests in the runup to the test date, they should be able to do as well as they can.

It is not the same as the classes teach you how to take the test, which doing all you said cannot do.

My son went from a 22 to 31 on the ACT just by taking a course that meet once a week for 6 weeks. he did not actually learn any knowledge other than how to take a test like these.

Makes the test meaningless in my opinion.

That story would have been more believable if you had said he took the SAT. The ACT tests actual subject-area knowledge much more than the SAT.

What you believe or not is irrelevant. Here in Illinois and Missouri that ACT is king. Those are his two actual scores. He always had the knowledge in him, he just was stressed about the test and did not really understand how to beat a test like these. That is what we paid for him to learn, and it worked well.
