State Senator De Leon will get any further candidacy, pre-launch exposure in the coming months of the campaign. He is the other Democrat up for election to the U. S. Senate, against incumbent, most favored senior Senator, Diane Feinstein. Arizona Flake's seat could also become Democratic.
So actual Senate opposition to Trump-GOP will originate with the election of Senator Feinstein. A broad hostility to the Trump-GOP will be co-managed by Senator De Leon. Instructive in the Governor's primary is that Los Angeles did not turn out as much for Mayor Villaraigosa. Whatever is opposed to Gavin Newsom is of no apparent consequence.
Feinstein wins, but liberal activists will all turn out--and so if something cataclysmic happens, De Leon wins.
Trump also managed to cement opposition to the Republican Party in the Primary, in fact. The vote went to Clinton, and against all odds.
