Bald eagles nesting in Chicago for first time in a century
March 26, 2004 — Bird experts say a pair of bald eagles are nesting in Chicago for the first time in more than a century.
State officials and birders are trying to keep the eagles' location a secret. They don't want curious onlookers to scare the birds from their nest.

U-S Fish and Wildlife Service officials say they are nesting somewhere next to the Little Calumet River. The waterway marks part of Chicago's southern border.

Birders say the last eagle nesting in the Chicago area was in the Indiana Dunes in 1897.

You ever wonder that in our attempts to ensure EVERY living thing NEVER goes extinct, we are messing things up? Nature is...Things die...

Bald Eagles are pretty, however.

is human encroachment nature? Look at what we did to the grey wolf population. nearly extinct, for all intent and purposes it was decimated but through strong efforts they are making a good comeback now.

Our national symbol should be no different and I think this is a wonderful thing.
