The couple disappeared from their families on Jan. 3 and stole multiple cars, some containing handguns inside, and damaged property while eluding police. They funded their illegal trip by writing bad checks, Chaffins said.

They stole one car which they crashed in a farm in Kentucky and then took a red 2006 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with a gun inside that was spotted at a Walmart in South Carolina on Monday. Authorities recovered that vehicle in Georgia Thursday but the suspects then stole a 2001 Toyota Tundra that had two handguns inside.

They were found asleep in the vehicle that was parked behind an IHOP shortly after midnight Sunday, Chaffins said. The U.S. Marshalls received a tip on Saturday they were in a local Walmart and then sent information to multiple agencies looking for the two fugitives, he said.

“This was the best possible outcome we could have had,” the sheriff said.

The weapons taken from the vehicles have not been recovered.

The 18 year old should probably be brought up on statutory rape charges, but I have a feeling they will have no way of proving they had a sexual relationship, unless one of them admits to it.
