The Christian share of adults in the United States has declined sharply since 2007, affecting nearly all major Christian traditions and denominations, and crossing age, race and region, according to an extensive survey by the Pew Research Center.

Ok, I think this decline is obvious.
Some of the factors in this decline:
There are more former Christians than ever — they now represent 19% of the unaffiliated group.
People are more affluent.
People are more educated.
Better economic development.
The politicization of religion.

Let`s take a closer look at some of this.

People are more educated. Is it really true that most intelligent and well-informed people are atheists, while people of faith tend to be unschooled and credulous? Well, what about religious famous smart and educated people? Here is some info: The 50 Smartest People of Faith The Best Schools
But it is noteworthy that some scientists assume IQ influences religiosity rather than vice-versa, which seems plausible: IQ levels remain very stable after childhood, whereas religiosity levels keep fluctuating – childhood IQ predicts adult IQ, but childhood religiosity is a very poor predictor of adult religiosity.

Where is the truth?
And what are the real reasons for decline?

what pillars of the "church" throughout history are famous today ?

.
All of them, you twit. :slap:

To be Christian in Obama's American is no longer vogue, nor is it a moniker to be broadcast to others.

Today's America belongs to Muslims, Marxists, and the LBGT crowd.

twity: To be Christian in Obama's American is no longer vogue ...

I'm not sure how that relates to past leaders of the "church" - in your case who is a stalwart from the past that is half the man or who's moral principles reflect the positive trends of present day Liberalism ?

.

hasn't been that much of a change......Catholics down 3%, liberal protestants down 3%.....those that identify as believers but are unaffiliated with any church up 6%.......

It relates to current affairs, the current Administration, the pseudo-Christian Muslim in the White House, and his came-toed "wife".

Because, contrary to what the Bible tells us about not being ashamed, being labeled a Christian is akin to a large red letter C.
Being called a Christian nowadays is almost an insult

well again, what christian leader are you using in comparison ?

Unfortunately, as progress goes further Christians have less arguments against. But Christian propaganda remains to be extremely powerful. Is stupidity a real reason?...
