You are right, for the wrong reasons. This was a small scale referendum on Scott Walker (R), not trump. It was a referendum against Walkers power grab, through the republican controlled state House. This was about Madison's (capitol of Wisconsin) usurping local control, especially by using the DNR. (Department of Natural Resources) Northern Wisconsin districts are raising hell about this. None of the campaigns even mentioned trump. ​

Governor Walker plucked a state senator to be his agriculture secretary. He chose someone from a district that Trump won by 17 points.

The special election to replace the senator resulted in a stunning upset. The Democratic candidate won by 9 points.

Walker, who is up for re-election, is now very nervous.
