Betty Ford was a pioneer for women's rights, she supported the ERA, breast cancer awareness, equal pay, and abortion. She was Time Magazine Woman of the Year in 1975, was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Her best legacy was the establishment of the Betty Ford Center which successfully treated many kinds of addiction. A remarkable woman and a literal figurehead of great Americanism, she even had to give her husband's concession speech when he lost his bid for the presidency.

Gerald Ford pardoned the criminal Richard Nixon and celebrated the successful Apollo-Soyuz Test Project mission.
