I used to tell my husband that we should just welcome Mexico to the states and make it into it's own state.

He said it would be too expensive to fix the roads and sewers and provide law enforcement.

If the USA were to take over Mexico, we would have bought the farm! It would take centuries to clean up their mess! Not to mention trillions of dollars that this country no longer can afford - maybe China will do it. They might be heading thata way.
