ANCHOR BABIES; AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY

The biggest tragedy this country has experienced is allowing children of illegal American citizenship because of birth. It is a tragedy for illegal alien families because it, automatic birthright citizenship, separates families. For this country because their parents are citizens of other countries and subject to deportation as anytime. They are in this country illegally and working illegally and buying homes here and putting anchor babies in the middle. Anchor babies are put in constant fear, by their parents, of their parents being deported at any time. But, at the same time, anchor babies cannot be used as anchors for their parents to remain in this country indefinitely.
Amnesty after amnesty is not the solution either to illegal immigration. Enforcing our immigration laws and repealing the 14th amendment is the simplest and less costly solution.
Educating and providing medical care for anchor babies and medical care and incarcerations for their family members are the most costly to the American taxpayer.

Children born in this country have ALWAYS been granted citizenship. It's one of the wonderful things about the USA, and why we attract so many people. You could be a starving Irish peasant and if you could find your way to Ellis Island, any child you have on these shores had the potential of becoming the president.

I happen to know many families with one or both parents who are illegally in this country. For the most part their children are bright, good students, and attend college when they are finished with high school.

That a poor excuse that is costing America and the taxpayers. Anchor babies make up the majority of the most violent gangs in this country.
Immigration should be orderly and controlled to know who is in this country and who is not.
The people who went through Ellis Island were registered and all were not let in. Any one who came through Ellis Island were no illegal. Then we were into nation building and now we are into nation survival. WE are running out of natural resources such as water and cannot substain uncontrol immigration that adds million or poor people to the population. We simply cannot afford uncontroll immigration and the cost.

Post a link that shows those stats and we'll talk.

Our country was based upon the concept that the oppressed could come here, and their children could become protected US citizens. It causes problems, it costs money...but it's one of our greatest strengths. Get over it, or move to Afghanistan.

Down with the anchor baby law! If and when a child is born here from illegal parents, the child should take the citizenship of the country where the parent/s come from - period! It's long overdue. The problems that this anchor baby law causes are huge. If a parent wants their baby to be an american citizen, then come in through the front door, otherwise that baby should NOT be a USA citizen.
BTW, the 'oppressed' are not the ones coming here - it's the poor, uneducated who find it much easier to jump the fence, cross the ocean, swim the river to get to a country that have tons of freebies waiting for them and makes it easier for them to come here than to stay put in their countries and fight for justice and opportunities! Fight for the future of THEIR country and those who can't escape the misery as well as for future generations. Where did the people from this country run to when they wanted these things??? No, they stayed and fought and sacrificed for it. It's time people from other countries did the same.

Our country is not "based upon" the concept that the oppressed could come here. Our country is based on the principles laid out in the Declaration of Independance and the Constitution, neither of which glorify the idea of an open borders society allowing the dregs of the world to flood into our country. The days of smart, intelligent, educated immigrants flocking to this country avoiding persecution in Europe are long over. Now its the poor and uneducated coming from Latin America, many of whom have no ambitions of assimilating into our society. If you doubt me, go check out your local LaRaza rally. Sure, there are quite a few Latino people with a good work ethic that just want a good life here in the states, but guess what, we have a LEGAL immigration process to let those people in.

The last thing we should be doing is rewarding illegal aliens by granting automatic citizenship to the kids they have while here illegally.
