Bayonet thread: anything and everything about bayonets

It's interesting that the Marines were issued all sorts of utility knives while the Army just had the bayonet. Airborne Troops had the M-3 fighting knife.
 
I used to collect WW2 fighting knives and there are lots of them. My favorite is the Cattaraugus which is an awesome hunk of steel with about 1/8 thick blade and a heavy plate of steel on the butt end. The V-44 pilot survival knife sometimes erroneously referred to as the Marine Raider knife will set you back about $600-800 if you are lucky enough to find one in decent condition. There are a lot of repros of all the knives like Suny's Ka-Bar.
