Improve K-12 schooling:
We will recruit an army of new teachers and develop innovative ways to reward teachers who are doing a great job, and we will reform No Child Left Behind so that we are supporting schools that need improvement, rather than punishing them.

---

Interesting... An "Army"... I wonder who's Side they will be on?...

And another thing, I Support Rewarding Good Teachers, but does Barry NOT Support Punishing Bad Teachers?...

No Mention of that... Just the Reference to Kennedy's Education Plan and how it Punished Failing Schools.

:)

when you punish a school for under perforing you are punishing the children more then the teachers.
and of course they will support a democrat like most teachers do, this is not something new.

honest about what? that we need more teachers in certain areas and that when a school peforms poorly they just cut funding instead of trying to fix the problem.

I'm not Against More Teachers, nor did I say ANYTHING to that End...

Insinuating otherwise is Dishonest.

Don't be Dishonest, it makes the Baby Jesus Cry.

Should any Teacher be other than Rewarded?...

I am not saying teachers should not be punished but that isn't what is happening with no child left behind, so therefore we obviously need to reform it.

Instead of putting millions of dollars into the voucher program where only a few students can take advantage of the program we should put that money into improving public schools.
Here in Washington we pay our teacher's well, it is almost impossible to find a teaching job, and we have a very good eduction program.

please show where I said that you didn't want more teachers?
and to be honest it was in implied in your OP when you critized obama for wanting to recruit teachers.

Again, MORE Dishonesty... I Questioned his EXACT Words... Try again, and this time don't Omit the Important Word that you just did.

Lies of Omission are still Lies.

It would be nice to have decent schools and supplies for the kids, before we further overburden the ancient, small and decrepit buildings currently being used.

I'm all in favour of better training for teachers and educational administrators and of course better buildings and equipment and the rest of it. It's a motherhood and apple pie argument though.

When someone says a school is "failing" though, how is it measured? What's a "fail"?

Educational policy is complex but it is interesting.

Oh but that would require a SOCIALIST program of rebuilding the infrastructure!!!!

Hell no!!!

You can do it over my cold dead outstretched hand clinging to my slide rule!

that is what is great about living in a liberal area, we like to up date our schools and pay our teachers well.
Across the border they couldn't pass a bond to remodel a condemed building to save their life, and we all know how conservative northern idaho is.

Reactionaries don't want education, it frightens the pants off them. Can you imagine the fear that would spread if a whole generation of people were educated to be critical thinkers? No, it's safer to underfund education and provide just enough to create the next generation of workers via the state education system. The rulers send their children to private schools and private universities for their own indoctrination but they get a good education as well. They know the reality but being part of the privileged class they know to keep quiet about it and allow the myths about "liberal elites" to spread among those less fortunate by birth.

The wife just finished 4 years as a second grade teacher and we fully expected her to be given tenure.
She was one of the best in the school, garnering top annual revues.
The school board told her to clean out her classroom. Fuck them.
