Voters remain strongly supportive of a free market economy over one controlled by the government and still think small businesses are hurt more than big businesses when the government does get involved.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 72% of Likely U.S. Voters believe a free market economy is better than an economy managed by the government. Just 14% think a government-managed economy is better. Another 14% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here).

Republicans and unaffiliated voters overwhelmingly prefer a free market approach. Among these segments of the electorate, the number preferring a government-managed economy is in the single digits.
Among Democrats, 48% say a free market is better, but 29% think a government-managed economy is the answer. Twenty-three percent (23%) are not sure.

Seventy-five percent (75%) of those who work for a private company give the nod to a free market economy, compared to 53% of government employees.

The majority (56%) of all voters think increased competition rather than increased government regulation is the best way to hold big business accountable. But 34% see increased regulation as the better course.

These are NOT good numbers for Obama's reelect chances. They say that only 34% of VOTERS think Obama's way is the best way.

Now here is the key to knowing whether to take seriously ANY poll.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on July 6-7, 2011 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

LIKELY VOTERS! Many of the polls you see liberals push, like that bull George Communist pushes, that most people want to see taxes go up, poll "adults." Which means illegals, etc etc etc. Just about anyone they can poll to skew it to their results.

Any poll worth looking at will poll LIKELY VOTERS and even then it's weak at best.

Which means the numbers for Obama could be a LOT WORSE than this poll suggests.

What this means is VOTERS HAVE WOKEN UP FROM THE DELUSION THAT IS OBAMA AND LIBERALISM.

They have seen liberalism for themselves and they know it's a disaster. That means they are going to say so with VOTES come November 2012.

2012 is coming!

Wow, what a dichotomy; either free market anarchism or a central planned economy like the old Soviet. I see a problem with this poll.

Most people do not have an idea what a free market actually is due to misleading rw rhetoric and flat out ignorance.

So TPS.

Are you in favor of the government suspending spending in the private sector?

Or eliminating it?

Yes or no?

Rasmussen polls have historicly been the most accurate to actual voter outcomes than any other.

Typical, can't argue the message attack the messenger.

lol...this shit is great. Rasmussen is known to lean Republican by 0-9 points in most polls that they conduct.

No doubt this absurd claim is backed up by a MediaMatters poll.

Does Media Matters conduct polls? I have no idea. Unlike you, I don't pay attention to Media Matters.

Regardless, one does not need Media Matters to tell you that Rasmussen has a long history of leaning right. All one needs is a couple of brain cells.

They had McCain beating Obama.

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - Rasmussen Reports™

Quote:

In December 2009, a full 11 months before Election Day. A Democratic strategist concluded that if the Rasmussen Reports Generic Congressional Ballot data was accurate, Republicans would gain 62 seats in the House during the 2010 elections. Other polls at the time suggested the Democrats would retain a comfortable majority. The Republicans gained 63 seats in the 2010 elections.

Rasmussen’s final 2010 projections were published in the Wall Street Journal. Scott Rasmussen noted that “it would be wise for all Republicans to remember that their team didn't win, the other team lost. Heading into 2012, voters will remain ready to vote against the party in power unless they are given a reason not to do so.”

In the 2009 New Jersey Governor's race, automated polls tended to be more accurate than operator-assisted polling techniques. On reviewing the state polling results from 2009, Mickey Kaus offered this assessment, "If you have a choice between Rasmussen and, say, the prestigious N.Y. Times, go with Rasmussen!"

In 2008, Obama won 53%-46% and our final poll showed Obama winning 52% to 46%. While we were pleased with the final result, Rasmussen Reports was especially pleased with the stability of our results. On every single day for the last six weeks of the campaign, our daily tracking showed Obama with a stable and solid lead attracting more than 50% of the vote.

We also have provided a summary of our 2008 state-by-state presidential results for your review.

In 2004 George W. Bush received 50.7% of the vote while John Kerry earned 48.3%. Rasmussen Reports polling projected that Bush would win 50.2% to 48.5%. We were the only firm to project both candidates' totals within half a percentage point by (see our 2004 results).

So are you going to admit your out right lie? Hmm are ya?

Ok, got something to back that up, other than your insane diatribe?

This should also be bad news for the GOP since they have a long history of being antagonistic to the free market.

Unfortunately, many of them still live in the days of McCarthyism where you are either a Republican or a communist.

As opposed to what, you're ether a Communist or an evil Christian?
