Just got my tax statement on my house, it's dropped even further in value. It's lost nearly $200,000 in value in the past 4 years, and trust me, that doesn't leave much value left. It's almost down to what we paid for it more than 25 years ago. \
Once upon a time, I thought buying a house was an investment that we could sell when we got older to help with our retirement, now it's pretty clear that our retirement is gonna be a bust. Oh, we'll have money due to other investments but my dream of moving to a retirement community is gone now.
Is anybody here really better off than they were 4 years ago? 8 years ago? 12 years ago? IMO our country has gone downhill since the changes in corporate law in the 70's. Now we are slaves to our masters and the only people really better off are those in the top 1%.
