I think we are not given the entire story. Sure I might hear something on progressive radio, but it doesn't mean squat until it's being told on mainstream tv news. That's ABC, CBS, FOX, CNN, MSNBC. If they aren't reporting on it, then it aint happening, and there are a lot of very important stories they ignored for the last 8 years. Or I hear the story on MSNBC but no other station? Might as well have not happened if the other stations don't report on it.
The GOP has taken over the big networks, Now everything they report favors the GOP. Notice how no finger pointing is being done by the media on exactly who fucked this economy up? Notice no mention of the $10 billion dollar war going on right now? Exactly!!!!
But no fear, the sleeping media is waking up just in time to be a hawk on Obama and Pelosi and Reed.

OK I'll give that to you, but you do realize that cable news channels have a fraction of the viewers of the big three news broadcasts. Even FOX is a very small fish in comparison to CBS, ABC, NBC, the NY Times, the Washington Post, AP, Time Magazine, Newsweek, etc.Alternative...WTF...Fox News (from the last figures I saw) gets more viewers in Prime Time than CNN, HLN or MSNBC..how is that Alternative media????? I appreciate what you are saying about the broadcast, not cable, channels....a couple of points on the printed media:
The NY times only has 300,000 of a bigger circulation than the NY Post...the USA Today only has 200,000 more than the Wall Street Journal
The LA times has a slightly bigger circulation than the OC Register, San Diego Union-Tribune, LA Daily News (although they did back Obama over McCain)...in the same distribution area.
I think too much is put on the power of the printed media today...I think far more people get their news from the Internet.

It was BECAUSE of the press that the ridiculous lie about "stealing elections" got as far as it did. Despite the fake reports that all these people had been disenfranchised, despite a hard look, two recounts and scouring the bushes for malcontents, there just wasn't anythign there. It was BECAUSE of the press that Obama is president now. The press NEVER went after Clinton, are you serious?

Where were they with jobs going overseas? Show me their stories about wages going down or unemployment going up. Show me where they questioned the Iraq war or WMD's or Anthrax? Show me their skepticizm over the 9-11 commission reports. The skyrocketing costs of healthcare? Oil gouging?
And who cares? No one reads the paper.

I remember my Detroit News lying about Obama's platform. Said he was going to raise taxes on people who made over $40k. He NEVER said that.

1. Screaming for Bush's impeachment would mean trying to make the news not reporting it.....maybe they researched the laws for impeaching the president more than those calling for it?
2. Maybe they stopped reporting it, when the majority of the American public moved on to the issues with the economy and when less of our soldiers were being killed there.
3. I wont even comment on the rubbish about stolen elections...and I seem to remember then going on and on about Florida.

My whole point was negating the argument that the printed media has a left wing bias....I was pointing out that there are as many people buy publications that lean right as lean left.
Both sides lie...both sides have their share of the media...the American public have to look at the reporting of both sides and find the truth somewhere in between.
