We should send moon rovers back to the moon to explore it more.
It would be super easy and cheap with today's technology.

At this point in the flight, the 1st and 2nd stages had put the vehicle into an orbit around the Earth....Now came the time to fire the 3rd stage and set course for the trans-lunar injection (TLI) and escape velocity from the gravity of the planet and into the gravitational pull from the moon...

It's interesting to note that that the anniversary celebration of Apollo 11 always features JFK but Nixon was president at the time and JFK had been dead for about six years. More bias against Tricky Dick?

After the SIVB 3rd stage accelerates the craft to a speed of over 20,000 mph, the time came to dock with and extract the lunar excursion module (LEM), which would be carrying Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon...





Then Armstrong and Aldrin go through the tunnel to inspect their lunar lander...



They are now all set for a three-day coast to the moon.

It was an amazing accomplishment for the time.
Haven’t been back in almost 50 years

What is truly amazing was that we spent all that money to reach the moon before the end of the 60s. All because JFK said we should

JFK didn’t envision the degree of US involvement in Vietnam. We were fighting a major war with a million troops in Vietnam and we still found the money to go to the moon.
Common sense would say......let’s wait till after the war to go to the moon

But it did provide a nice diversion to a hated war
