Deadline for ObamaCare enrollment moved back from December 15th to 23rd (2014)

With the rollout of President Obama's health care law plagued by technological problems, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced on Friday that the administration is extending the date for individuals to enroll in health care plans.

As things stood prior to the announcement, individuals who wanted to be covered by Jan. 1 had to pick a plan by Dec. 15. That date has now been pushed back to Dec. 23, CMS spokeswoman Julie Bataille announced on a conference call.

HHS delays 2015 enrollment to … just past the midterm elections

Health and Human Services plans to delay the start of the second year of Obamacare enrollment by one month to allow insurers more time to set rates after assessing their plan experiences during 2014, a department official said Thursday night.

The decision means that sign-ups for the 2015 plan year would begin on Nov. 15, 2014 and end on Jan. 15, 2015 instead of the Oct. 15-Dec. 7 window previously announced. The date change, first reported by Bloomberg, also lengthens the enrollment period by a week. Doing so would give companies more opportunity to account for individuals, particularly young adults, who come in late during the plan’s first year, which has gotten off to a rocky start. The goal is premiums that more accurately reflect costs for those insured.

The new calendar would move the start of the 2015 open enrollment season to shortly after the November midterm elections.

What about those poor people who were waiting and hoping to be able to get insurance on Oct. 15 and now will have to wait another month? What if one of them gets hit by a car on Nov. 10? Who will pay their hospital bills? What if they go bankrupt because Obama cared more about his party's election prospects? :(

collateral damage.

and Unicorn ponies too!!!...yea, thats follows the script;)
Insurance companies that want to maintain their customer base and relationship will make a non-exchange offer prior to the new date. That will screw Obama to the wall. And that is not all.

According to my wife, she's a lab supervisor at Mayo Jax, management is very closed mouthed about plans but they do have what is labeled as an insurance subsidiary. HCA may also have contingency plans to work around this bill and the end game may make the exchanges unworkable. Concierge care combined with HSAs and catastrophic care are compliant with Obamacare but effectively exclude the poor and medicare/medicaid patients. While not directly dealing with the problem of pre-existing conditions or concierge urgent care replacing emergency rooms as hospitals become non-hospitals.

I think this plan will fail catastrophically.
